I have a boss who has an ability that targets players. The ability has some "aiming" time, and then a projectile fires at the target point. I have created a visual target warning for the players using Attach Model to Unit (trigger action) as the boss starts his "aiming". After that aiming period is over, I would like to freeze the target model's position, so that it stops following the player's unit. How can I get this effect?
Very nice - exactly what I have done, except mine via triggers of course. I guess the one subtle difference is that in my case the boss simultaneously casts it on all players in the arena.

Hi,

@Apollys: Go
create a dummy unit with the same model and destroy the old one

Then you will see the chop in the animation as I create the new model (the target spins and stuff).
@Apollys: Go
do you create this dummy with the same facing as the target unit? is the dummy able to turn?
@Apollys: Go
Now to the proper approach:
Send following messages to the Aim actor after ability's prepare time:
ReferenceDump ::Host
Host Site Operations Set: "HostName" - ::Host, "SiteOperations" - SOpShadow
If i'll get 2 likes i'll make a map, deal?
@abvdzh: Go
Sounds like this is the solution I'm looking for, but what you've written up does nothing for me. Could you let me know where I went astray?
Edit: Well whaddya know, GAx3 has a detach actor function that does exactly what I want, guess I'll take a look at his code.
Hmm.. You made it little different from what i thought initialy. This can be done with data. Anyway, you typed Host instead of ::Host. Look map
yo man here is my vision of that abil. Done entirely with data. Enjoy (+like if enjoyed)
