After the long-lasting JTE of last week, I'm back from all the business I had to attend and I'm hereby kickstarting the WTE anew. The next few weeks should have reliable updates with simpler and more fun themes. That said: "It's About Time" is going to be our fitting theme for this week. What does this mean? I want you guys to create a terrain that in some way represents 'time'. This means you can for example create a terrain hosting an artificial time bubble in which time is warped, making the terrain inside looking different. Or perhaps take a Caverns of Time approach as seen in World of WarCraft. Or simply create two terrains: one 'before' a certain event and another 'after'. It's up to you, really!
Regardless of what you go with, good luck, and have fun! And be sure to finish in time ;)
Nice, the overall blend really well together... Except one thing. Scale. The picture point of view is really good, but the buildings are too small compared to the cars and pedestrians etc... Right now it has like a... "child playing with toy in his imagination" feeling. Imagine a child hand coming from the sky to move things around...
I don't know, I don't think the scale is that off. The buildings could be a bit larger though - this would probably fill out the screen a bit better too (you'd have a bit of an W-shaped airline with buildings on either end). Overall I think it's a great submission though - fits the theme perfectly.
Ooh really nice Ghost! I like that concept... I'd suggest maybe making use of an additional ground texture within the bubble/a different dirt texture outside though to really push the contrast between the stuff in the bubble and the stuff outside. Just a suggestion of course, feel free to ignore! ^_^
It's looking interesting, but what I'm missing is some kind of indication that it's a time bubble - right now it might just as well be a big shield that has protected everything inside of it from a big explosion/fire on the outside. I'm not sure how you'd go about finding such an indicator, though, truth be told.
Yeah I was thinking about that issue as well. It basically just looks like a bubble shielded a fire. I'll have to see what I can do to make it look like time has passed. Maybe I'll make a fade from green like in the bubble to blackened outside the bubble to show how it's all changed through time.
That could definately work if there was a slight blending of the grass to the dirt, kinda like there's a slight gradual change of the flow of time inside the bubble compared to the outside perhaps?
You know, if you could create game cameras where you'd like screenshots, and post the map file, I would gladly take the screens at max settings for you and upload them.
saying that what is the best frame rate and camera speed to take best pictures ???
sometimes i post here for the WTE and i feel like my screen shoots dont look all that good.
30 fps and 60 fps are usually what most computer monitors handle. If your computer is strong enough, I would recommend 60 fps (and if you really want to, 90 fps as a buffer zone in case of lagg/fps drops).

Weekly Terraining Exercise #170
Hello again folks!
After the long-lasting JTE of last week, I'm back from all the business I had to attend and I'm hereby kickstarting the WTE anew. Here's a start to mine.
Edit: And an update.
Edit 2: And another.

A strange old xel'naga temple in the jungle? Nice mission for Indiana Raynor!
Sorry for poor video quality, my video card juste died...

Interesting. I'd prefer to wait for some screenshots with max settings to really make a say on it though.

Yeah. As it turns out, I had forgotten to rescale all of the cars, so some did look out of place. Anyway, here's another update to my terrain.
Edit: And another update.
Okay here's mine I went for the bubble time thingy with inspiration from SirDeeD's Protoss base.

Great advice! I changed up a couple of the greener textures for the outside desolate area and the contrast is much better!

I know this is not matching the current WTE but this is what I'm working on for a Star Party minigame. It's not finished though...
