Phew, am I glad to be rid of all that pretentiousness. This week we're gonna do something normal, with doodads.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #20
For this week's theme, we're gonna go with some shameless "Nationalism". Ten WTE's ago, I asked you folks to recreate Greece. Back then, it wasn't too succesful, probably partly due to the fact that there's a lot of people who just couldn't care less about Greece. That's why this week I'm bringing back the theme in a different coat - I want you to show off your own country. Open up the editor and recreate some of the beautiful areas that can be found where you live. Someone Swedish could go for a huge lake, while someone from the states might prefer to go and recreate a Texas desert. If you can recreate (part of) a city, that's fine too - just show us exactly what is beautiful about your homecountry.
Good luck, I'm curious what people will come up with for this one...
I tried as hard as I could, but I couldn't find that great of textures, but I think I captured it. These pictures are from the editor. They are pictures of my replica of the Grand Canyon, United States, Arizona. I live only about 200-300 miles from this vast many many miles of beautiful desert/savanna like place. Now, the grand canyon is actually A LOT bigger. It can end up being an entire mile wide and stretches up VERY high. Love it.
First time ever participating in the WTE, I found this week's theme interesting so here's my attempt:
It's a well-known seashore in Normandy (France), called Etretat and especially famous for its peak (if you ever heard of Arsene Lupin, you probably know it). It's 30-40 minutes by road from where I live ATM and I love this place. Here's a picture of the real place: http://www.photo-paysage.com/albums/userpics/10001/normal_sur-la-plage-d-etretat.jpg
Sorry I didn't get a chance to post this in time (just got internet back). Figured I would post this anyway's since I had it finished a while ago.
Here's Canada. Three Sister Mountains in Alberta/Canmore. Near my home city.
Also included is a real life picture of the mountains. & no, I wasn't trying to replicate from the picture, I just grabbed the picture after I finished for comparison.

Ok, I started making this one for last weeks exercise, but then this one came out, and my map seemed to fit with this one better.
My rendition of Zion National Park. This is inspired by the south end of the canyons before the Narrows/Slot Canyons.

That rock in that second picture is just screaming to be lowered. Aside from that, looking pretty good!
This is Uluru, or, Ayers Rock. Sorry that I could only make one, the Galaxy Map Editor was lagging so badly if I tried to modify anything.
EDIT: I really should add some plants, uluru isnt just in the middle of the desert. Theres also a road next to it, methinks.
