Probably only by editing that cliff model file itself. That or you can obscure them with other doodads (grab any kind of rock/tile doodad, give it a huge Z scale, use 'pillar' to hide columns).
Repaint the area with cliff and ramp? This changes the models used for the cliff randomly, might end you up with a columnless ramp. Alternatively, change your cliff used to something that fits but doesn't have the pillars.
Ok. I've shakuras black cliff (not natural). This cliff have models (columns), esp. on ramps. Is it possible to remove them.

Ok... can't found this doodads in the actors list... but... Blizzard has successfully removed it in some melee maps

Repaint never removes models from ramps and it works fine with standart walls. But I aimed only on ramps =(
