A lot of the individual terraining here is great. The only problem is, no one seems to build apon any other persons ideas or improvements. Not much synchs together. I hope I dont get flamed for adding my own opinion here. Maybe on challenge 3 add a guideline that suggests evolving on existing ideas/terrain.
I'm trying to fade my terrain with the surrounding ones. If you take a look at Pshyched's original lake, you will see we are actually expanding and evolving the existing areas. I agree some of the newest areas still feel a bit disconnected from the previous ones, but I guess they will end up being more connected as we keep working on this proyect.
Yeah, just like the first Many Hands was. It took awhile but the end result was awesome. And as Ivion said, thats mainly the point, but as i did (But didnt do it on purpose) was i created a completely seperate area, but this makes more ideas pop out for people to terrain, so it helps sometimes.
My terrain is separated from the rest for a few reasons. Firstly, the scale of mine is different from the scale of the rest of the map, and also my terraining style is quite different from everyone else's.
When you lowered the lava, it also lowered it on the rest of the map, uncocering the untextured terrain below. I replaced the lava in your area with the Char lava, which looks the same, while also keeping the lava in other areas at the same height.
Edit: Christ, I just checked the date of the previous post. Is this still going on?
Edit 2: Anyway, finished my part. If anyone wants to keep this going, the map's attached.
I realized that I made mistake by changing lava height. And then Darkyvm tried to fix it and now it messed two other volcanos at souh part of map.
There was already Char lava at south part of map and Redstone lava at north part of map.
Well... Neither of us didn't mean to ruin anything but unfortunately that happened :( But hey, isn't this the fun part of "Many hands" thing? So propably someone need to fix that lava height 3rd time :D
If you want to check "right" height for lava check map at post of Exaken.

Next terrainer please modify:
Char lava 9.00
Redstone lava 7.75
These are values for waters at state of Exaken post.

It is propably only choice to remove the lava from the map part that I made. (Area with 3 lavafalls, rocks, trees and mammoth fossil)
Yeah it is old now, and i'm thinking of a really good Many Hands.. It would be difficult, but how about creating a city, people keep adding to the city by adding houses / buildings etc etc and hopefully forming it into a massive city :)
Hehe.. at the moment I really hope that someone fixes this many hands thing because I don't want to be "the guy who messed things on Many Hands 2" :D

I think its not good idea to start new "Many hands" if this map has lot of unused space. Propably it is normal that this kind of projects have long breaks?
And hey at least we have raised these threads up again ;)
Didn't notice the Char lava already there, my bad. But that can be fixed by duplicating the Char lava with the data editor and using different ones for each areas, like I did up top. In fact, unless someone is working on it right now, I should be able to fix it in just a moment.
Ivion, you have had it for 32 Minutes! tsk tsk tsk.
And that does sound pretty cool BasicGear, maybe i'll add that in Many Hands - 4....
I got it for next 30! Done, done!
Thats good, but I think we still have a lot of work to be done till it looks perfect.

Ups... Next time I will spend only 28 min then. :P

And Lol Ivion, don't worry :P

Somehow, it will all interlink one anothers anyway... Someway...
So, Its stopped all of a sudden? : /
I'm working on it!
...
Ok. Done. I did some "basic" natural Redstone terrain at bottom right part of map. Some cliffs, rocks, trees and few lava falls.
I changed height of "Redstone" water to 4.00. I hope that I didn't mess anything by that change.
Working on it right now.
