Last week we had a bit of a strange theme, but I do think we ended up getting Fulla his Lava Arena. Moving back to the present though, it was only today that I realized that there's a very simple theme we haven't quite had in the WTE: a "Forest". We've had a 'Haunted Forest' in #45, but I think that's as close as we've gotten. So this week the idea is simple, the assignment isn't: make me a forest. Any kind of forest works, though what I'm mostly interested in is seeing how you guys will handle making the theme interesting. Focal points will be key here if you want your terrain to be more than just a bunch of trees. Personal hint: throw in a glen, river, or some other type of water.
Not as much the map view as that particular screenshot. The sharp line between dark and light cutting across the water makes it look a bit surreal, which is a shame. The terrain itself looks pretty cool. The obelisks definitely form a point of interest, though I have a feeling you can do better than those - they seem slightly out of place.
Nice playing with lights really, looks like mating time in Avatar map, lol. I'll probably be submitting a less than spectacular forest myself, gives me a good reason to revamp it in my project. I'll be looking for critique though.
Took a break from the editor and played vs AI and also some players to get specific achievements. At a certain point I was playing on Korhal Compound LE and I thought that maybe a similar terrain could be called a 'forest'. I hope to finish it, but I have things to do. Anyways, first two shots are of finished terrain and the last is a (semi?)-finished dam with unfinished sides. Enjoy!
That's alright - I'm going to be at least a day late with the new WTE. I've got it typed out in a txt file on my PC but I'm not currently at home. Might end up extending that a week because of it. For now, feel free to stick with this one until I get around to posting #94 folks :)
Awesome dam you've got there, btw. I'd love to see that terrain used. How do the sounds play out in game? Waterfall sound fits nicely or... ?
I will post the map soon for you who are curious about taking a look at it, may take another 30 mins. there are a large number of triggers on the map, it includes my own epic character selection system and allows you to run around in a 3rd person view. so im going to test a few things and post the map after that.
So the stats and abilities mean absolutely nothing because they have not been implemented. The third person engine i found here at starcraft 2 mapster.
Also some of the character's attack animations are not complete, I will post the more finished version if i find a way to get it back from patch 1.5. (terrain the same in both so i probably wont bother)
Well I am currently working on a (Good) re-creation of helms deep, and that simple game is taking me a while to finish. This one I was planning a sort of mass effect RPG (complex storyline were choices put you on one side of the battle or the other or with 2 other secret factions that have their own storyline according to the two main sides.) And that would take me a year or 2 lol.

I used some trees from WoW for this one, because the default SC2 trees are horrible for making forest-centric maps.

This is not a contest :) this is an exercise. I was playing with the emissive lighting. Wanted to do a colorful forest.
