Fully finished terraining for the new map War of the 12 Kingdoms. Using the largest map size possible its hard to get each area to look unique but I really like the way it turned out. If you used to play the game you will see I tried to make the feel cohesive to the color like the original. ex: Pink = Undead , Green = nature & trees etc. Let me know what you think please! I am still new at the Galaxy Editor and have learned everything on my own and alot thru mapster:)Pics are zoomed out to try and get whole base- I have more detailed pics on my site and in game pics
i drew the same concept with a twist from the original wc3 game

2nd map I recently just redid the terrain for irok2002 for his Genetic Lab Wars 2 Map . Very fun to terrain and i cant wait to see him finish as the gameplay looks very fun! his project page
I was trollin' a bit lol. I generally don't like the look of cliffs. Anyway, the terrain is pretty nice overall. I like how you managed to get the distinctly different themes.
Nice first song. As for the terrain; it looks really bland in a lot of places? You did manage to make every area distinct, but a lot of the paths are just 'dirt' and that's it. Why not flourish them up with some foliage, rocks and plants? Texture play would also severely improve these areas.
Unfortunately we didn't go through all the bases, finding 12 distinct themes, six quest themes, etc made the maps terrain very diverse actually. I'll get some more footage, this is a huge map.
Oh and there aren't time traveling vampires, but there are quite a few zombies, demons, imps, ogres, trolls, dragons, and general things that go bump in the night!
I have redone alot on the terrain and I am sure to have anther update. I really want the roads to look so called "traveled on" since in War of the 12 Kingdoms you have alot of your fights on them with big groups of armies outside your base. Good advice on the roads tho maybe i can grunge them up a bit and add some things. Any advice on things to do with the roads would be great.

these ogres in game were awesome!
I ambushed blood elves in this misty forest spot in game with the night elf race i was playing. Quest area
I'm liking this! Newest terrain looks pretty cool. You have some interesting stuff going around. For the roads, I'd mainly say add rocks, plants, small foliage and some texture play. Do google image searches for "path", "barren path" and "country road" and see what comes up - plenty of hints as to what to fill the area up with.
Additionaly, I'd recommend letting the 'zones' go past their boundaries onto the road. What I mean by this is the following: take for example the dragon lair terrain (which I assume to be the 7th picture in your last post). Rather than making that end at it's boundaries, draw it on a little bit and add some more rocks and palm trees onto that road. Use the same textures to insinuate that these really are specific areas that somewhat overflow, and don't have humanly set up boundaries.

Yuck. Cliffs.

Hi,
Can you expand on yuck/cliffs? It was a big map and I used a variety of methods to make this map. Thanks!

Timetravelling half-dragon half-vampires? :D

I've also added a page to show how we are handling portraits which we've decided to use 2d images of the WOW models...
