Hello again folks! Remember the WTE's? They're back! They've been off for some time due to me having some stuff happening IRL that had to be taken care of, but I should now at least be free enough again to host up a new WTE each week. That said, I'm intending to kickstart the WTE with a phenomenon that has proven popular in the past. Furthermore, WTE's will from now on be on mondays rather than tuesdays, as I figured this made a little bit more sense.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #23
This new WTE is going to be a joint-terraining exercise, similar to the one we had in the past. The idea is this; the first poster that wants to work on this comes in and says "I'm working on the map". He then downloads the starting file I've created and works on the map for 10 to 30 minutes. He then saves the map, edits his earlier post stating he was working on it, and uploads the map to that post. Note that while I don't want to be an ass, if someone does not stick to these rules, you can ignore his post - see the bottom of the old JTE post for more information on this; it's gone wrong-ish in the past. Once someone is done editing and the map is uploaded to his post, anyone is free to reply with an "I'm working on it" - it's basically a FFA race on that part.
What we're going to do is create an RPG involving vehicles. Or at least, the terrain for one. With this in mind, there's some conditions I'll put down to ensure we can have a clear and linear progression through the map.
1) I ask that you do not change the 'road' that I've already put down. Feel free to work around it to make it look better, but keep the direction it's headed the same.
2) The bottom right corner will be the starting area. The road ending north of that will be the map's end. The crossroads will be a friendly town which, through some quest, forces you to go down to the bottom left corner before they let you proceed through the northern exit.
3) My intention is to make this RPG about 'fighters' who stay in their vehicles all game long - they cruise along this laid-out highway and for whatever reason have to reach the end of this map. For this reason, the area around the road should be mostly kept open to allow (and sometimes force) the players to wander from it. The 'borders' that will be in place (mountains and canyons mostly) will serve to seperate one piece of road from another.
Once the terrain is done, I intend to get together with a couple of storywriters and then post this thing over in the data and trigger boards and turn it into a full-blown Mapster-map, which we can then upload. If you feel like you can contribute, feel free! If needed, I will extend this WTE one or two weeks so we can get this finish.
With all that said... let's show the world of Starcraft what Mapster's capable of!
Hmm, seems like we have problem, and I´m gona be a duche and say that unfortunatly ScrinKing didn´t follow the rules.

Dude! You had the map for approximately 24 hours, 10 if you count from the "Thanks" post.
Funny thing is you both picked kind of the same place to edit, hehe..
Now I´m gonna wait for Mozared to smack his words of justice, and resolve this dilemma.
Max is right. I don't want to be an asshole Scrin, but I've set these clear rules exactly to avoid situations like this. You had your chance and didn't come back for over four hours before Status decided to pick it up - you need to be clear and precise in communicating about when you're picking it up and when you're dropping it off again. If you want to work on it, do actually post that you are working on it ("Thanks!" doesn't indicate that), and be sure to actually return after thirty minutes - an hour at most.
For now we're going to continue from StatusQ3's edit - which is what I've done here; I made a couple of small edits to keep the linearity going before passing it on again. If you want to edit it now, use the map I've attached.

@Mozared: Go
Sounds like fun man :) where's the map though for us to download/get started?
...
What are you talking about, it's attached to the opening post! It's been since I made it dude. Seriously, I totally didn't forget to attach it, geez.
@Mozared: Go
'''WORKING!'''
Done, Started the CrossroadsQuestingTown. This is so much fun..
@Moz: lol :D
@Max: your detailing/doodad skills = EPIC WIN... really really good stuff :)
I'll try to contribute something tommorow!
Working on it!
Edit: Done but the mine i made is maybe too close to the boarder. So we might need to fix that (just noticed)
I'm done. I added a couple of huts in the crossroads.
Yes, at some points the is also road is out of the map bounds, So I think the map bounds need to be increased.
I did some stuff.
@Exaken: Go
@Ababmer: Go
You two did really good stuff :D
This will be so awesome when its done!
@ralme360: Go
How many times can you edit the map? :]
Feel free to fuck with my work btw
@Maxsvard: Go
I don't know that there is a limit. And editing more times is just great i think.
So I hope Mozared won't be angry if you edit it more times (I don't think he will :D ) So you go ahead and edit the map more :)
Just don't over do it.
@Maxsvard: Go
As often as you like, Max. Just try to stick with not editing it two times in a row, unless it's been a day and nobody has replied.
I'm gonna work on it. Errr, why can't I download it? When I click on it, it shows over 9,000 (Literally) letters all jumbled up
@ScrinKing: Go Left click, safe as... and if that doesn't work, try downloading it in a different browser.
Thanks!
Working on it
done! First terrain exercise!!!
But I was working on it first! D=
EDIT: That file's corrupt or somethin', at least on my PC
@ScrinKing: Go
