... so we'll put some doodads on your doodads so you can create stuff while you doodad.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #36
This week's theme will be getting creative with doodads. What the point of this whole WTE is, is creating an object out of multiple other doodads. The most obvious choice here would be creating a building with doodads, but if you've got another idea, that goes as well - highly detailed waterfalls or even an interesting tree; as long as it's one solid object created out of multiple smaller doodads, it goes. I've attached a small example screenshot, which is a building done by Maxsvard for an earlier Joint Terraining Exercise.
I have started a "BioDome City on Char" yesterday, will post it up here when I finish. I has tha timing :]
Sadly, I won't be able to work on it until tomorrow.
I'll give it a try but I'm busy most of this week for moving. However I have encountered a problem: one of my map no longer tests properly.
When I attempt to test the map it gives the default loading screen and then gives me the message "unable to open map", after redirecting to battle.net.
Won´t have access to my computer rest of the week, but i was in the mood for some kind of MaraSara Favelaish town, it´s nothing special.
If I´m able to bring my comp I´ll might try to do some more..
And i have to say, Madlibrarian, that the water out of the wents was a nice one!
Here are a few screen shots for a menu cinematic that I am using for a downtown central park map.... I attempted to create sky scrapers with doodads to get that downtown metalopolis feel.
I thought I posted my album too show a few doodad usages so people can get some inspiration around it..
Don't want to be lazy, but I can't decide wich one I like the most !
As you will see it's not overdone, seeing it's not a eye-candy based map :-)

I'm not going to lamely promote my own thread, but for those interested just use search for 'Untitled Hero' and you shall find it =)
It is sort of hard to see, but adding rock structures and xil plants, along with sharks, in water by your coasts looks really cool. I probably need to zoom in more, but the rock structure is just that, a rock structure built with doodads and xil trees.
Wow, these are amazing guys. I really should check the WTE more often. Every time I come here, I get wowed. Terraining is definitely NOT my forte though, so I'll leave the awesomeness to the rest of you ;).

Terrains like those make me sad that SC2 doesn't have multi-layered pathing :(
