Right now I'm working on macro map project and frankly I'm lost as to the scale of maps. Is there's an easy way to determine how big a map should be and how large a main and natural should be?
just open the terrain editor and unit pallete, and build a base :) Place your CC, plump down a few rax loosely, add addons, stuff supply depots here and there... It'll help you get a sense of size. You can also turn on the building pathing grid view which will display green squares where you can build, red squares where not and yellow squares where CC/Nexi/Hatchz cant build due to resources. Each square = 1 range, so that might help as well.

Place a command center and scale it from that?
