What he means (I think) is having caves like in wow, basically you have the terrain layer and it has a hole in it, then a model that goes through that hole so you can walk into the cave which is actually partially under the terrain layer. Am I right with that? How to do that, if at all.. I don't know.
was the video of a WOW game in SC2 editor? If thats what it was, he used 3DS max to make it. If you don't have it/don't have $3000 to get it, I'm afraid you are out of luck unless you ask someone to do a specific thing.
Edit: Just to confirm, three zeros = $3000. It was not a typo, sorry :(
Is this an RPG, where the player only has 1 unit? If that's the case, you can do what I do and have the cave in a separate map. Use a region and triggers to detect when the player walks to the opening, store all important info in a bank, and activate the "cave" map. Then in the cave map have another trigger that detects when you go back to the exit and then go to the "surface" map. If the cave has more than one entrance/exit, you'll need a trigger for each one and another trigger to spawn the hero at the correct place on the other map.
Seriously, one of those days, I'm going to send you all down a cliff and see if you use google first to find out if it's dangerous. And I'll have to test Reaper on being infected with moronism.
Took me 3 seconds. And yes, that is the only way to do caves in SC2. Because we lack the tools from Blizzard to do terrain objects and the tech of SC2 is not made for this kind of stuff.
Edit 2: Added screens of a Cavern I did back in the last year for ModCraft. This was made for a TPS view, is fully walkable, but naturally, due to the nature of SC2, you can not climb up top and walk around there.
It's a necro, but since it's your own thread and it's a relevant question I'll let it slide.
How to 'make caves' is a question of modeling in 3DS max - I can't tell you how to do that, really. Importing ties into that, so I suggest you ask again in the Artist Tavern, where folks know more about stuff like that.

@dgh64: Go
True, but you still can't really make a ceiling all that easily.
