This going to be a odd request, and will get a fair lot of flame. But I need an answer, so here I go.
We have been tasked in school to design a game.
While they supply us with gamer-maker 8 and they also allow students with greater skills sets to use more powerful game engines, like the unreal Engine.
Now my idea is that, seeing your Galaxy Editor is more than just map editor. I would like to design my game using it, (yes I know you’re not making a game, you’re really just making a map instead SC II, but I'm not here to justify myself).
My problem is this; all work submitted has to be tested. While my teacher will have no problem testing it (probs won't even look at it, just nod and mark) all work must also be passed onto a panel of teachers to check that the teacher is being fair, now to put it bluntly, they are stupid, they will see the file *click* *error* "Unknown File" *FAIL*.
So I am wondering if it is even remotely possible to backup the galaxy up on a disc with the borderline data files required (No extra maps at all, and without possibly Some of the other random crap that needs not to be there) and make parameter in a shortcut to open the editor and force a test Document function. (So not even Sc II can run outside off the editor)

P.s I know I'm going to get flamed, and probs have this in the wrong spot.
P.S.S btw I should of probs done this as an email, but I don't really think anyone reads them, with any importance anyway.
Yes he would but I'm trying to restrict access by removing specific files, and use the editor "test document" feature to run the map, so kinda make the map, the game, I've seen it done before.
The map editor relies on pretty much all of your game data files so you can't just strip away certain parts of it. It also needs SC2.exe for its test functions so that needs to be with it. You can pretty much store the entire game folder on something like an external hard drive, have your map there and a batch file that tells the map editor to open the map using relative paths. Licensing is going to be a problem as you're the only one allowed to use that copy of the game (unless your teacher has a beta account, then he/she can just open the map file itself). You can also install the beta and patch it up on whatever computer you're wanting to use it on but that will take a while, and that's assuming your school doesn't block that type of download.
Maybe a better thing for you to try is to ask your teacher if you can bring it on a laptop or something, or upload some video captures on Youtube if they allow that type of submission. //
Love life.

Afternoon everyone,

Wouldn't the teacher still need the SC2 client to test it rather than just see what you've done in the editor? I'm not sure what you're asking exactly

@Tvcouch: Go
Well, I would just use Game Maker 8. I love that thing. Haha.
Sorry I cant help though.
hahaha, it's cool. I asked on the blizzard forums for help to and darth replied.
