Not really looking for a solution, this is more of an open ended rant.
The fps without the doodads in that screenshot is just over 100 (using fraps to monitor this). With 25 doodads, the fps drops to 70. I'm aware that the human eye has difficulty judging beyond 60fps, but you'll have to trust me here that the difference is very noticeable, and very annoying.
I have a very small map. Viewing the entire map with doodads gives 22fps. Without, 25fps. That's a pretty huge fps drop (just over 10%) for the sake of vanity. Granted you will never view the entire map at once so the fps figures are a little low, but it is more to give you an indication on just how laggy these doodads are.
I really don't know what to do. On one hand I could forsake the doodads for smoother gameplay, on the other bland terrain looks rather dull.
Again, this may sound like a minor rant, but the effect it has on gameplay is very noticeable. Is anyone else noticing this?
if youre like me and run everything maxed out (resolution and ULTRA on all) you could just lower them a tad bit and up the FR. but then it wont be as pretty! nice work with your terraining! i hope my terrainer turns out stuff that nice...

For some reason none of the graphics settings seem to adjust the resolution of doodads. Could just be a beta thing.
If you're not using far clipping on your camera already, you could use that to dramatically increase the FPS. You just wouldn't be able to see as far.
