I'm about to start working on a project, based on a Wc3 map, named Enfo's team survival. The concept of the map, is that there are two lanes which will spawn units in waves, and then you play as a team of unique heroes trying to survive as long as possible.
The enemy units will move in two lanes, and try to reach a point which the players defend. If the enemy units reach it, they will be destroyed and the team will lose 1 Life.
This project will involve coming up with (for starters) a few hero concepts. This is where I wanna ask you guys for help. The heroes will have 4-5 abilities, which will deal damage acording to stats (deal 2*attack damage/spell power)
I personally dont like having heroes with a huge downtime on the abilities, so the energy regeneration will most likely be high, and more like it is in Diablo 3.
Also, the abilities will deal damage based on either Attack Damage, or Spell Power (which will be a stat).
Here's an example of a hero I'd like to create for the map
(AD = attack damage
SP = spell power)
I'm also considering that every 5 or 10 level, there should be an option to upgrade an ability, unlocking a more powerfull version of it.
(increasing the duration for the healing buff from Healing Roar by 3 seconds or increasing the area of effect of Cleave by 0,5 or something along those lines, but only as a unique upgrade)
If you have an idea for a hero, feel free to submit it, even if it lacks an ability, a name, a skin or whatever :)
The only requirement, is that it fits into teamplay, and is able to help clear wave after wave of incoming enemy units :)
Support spell power hero that is dependent on form morphs. Forms are powerful but cost energy to maintain. Alternatively, forms are free but each has 1 ability that costs energy. Morph takes a second or two.
Base form - Drone. Doesn't have an attack, but can heal allies at a similar rate to a normal hero's DPs (heals instead of attacks)
Guardian form - powerful ranged splash attacks, but slow.
Colony form - immobile sunken colony that roots enemies that come near, providing an immobile "tank" form complete with cc but lacking DPs and mobility.
Ultraling - massive single-target DPs zergling. Fast with life steal but weak to focused attacks.
Ultimate - empowered morph - makes next morph more powerful.
Alternatively, add a "super morph" that can cast powerful spells or is a sweet ultralisk or something but is a limited duration.
Place style - good for people who like auto attacking or being versatile. Lacks focus and powerful spells but is a bit of a "jack of all" and rewards quick thinking where it relates to optimizing current form.
Drones get no love in hero genres. Give 'em some.
Interresting idea :) I'm afraid though, that it will be to monotome to play. With only a hero to control, I'd like to have some abilities to use, some skillshots or whatever :) I could still work with the different forms, but maybe use it another way :)
Ie. have the ability to turn into a spine crawler for 5 seconds which on end spawns 3 zerglings? :)
They dont have to be completely unique - they are unique, as in they are different from eachother :)
The playstyle should change depending on which hero you choose- right now I've just finished creating a hero with these abilities:
an area of effect which heals allies and damages foes within over a set duration
an ability that stuns an enemy, and makes it explode if it dies with the debuff
a psi storm
a sphere which deals damage to random nearby enemy over a set duration.
a passive which makes every 5th attack deal bonus aoe damage.
pretty basic hero, and I might change it duo to being to aoe focused.
It does not matter that they are overpowered - as in spamming bladestorm 50% of the time (I'll just adjust the damage), but making it feel cool to play is what's most important, as it's really the only thing you do.

Depends how many unique heroes you can think of. I personally have only managed to think of 42 that are totally unique.

Ability 1 and 3 are too similar. Replace the psi storm with some kind of temporary buffing ability.
