Hi,
is it somehow possible to make an online leaderboard for an highscore game? Such as Lost Viking? For example storing the data in an mysql database?
you'd have to make everyone who plays the map download and install the software
and it'd only be able to read banks and submit data from them
there was a thread about this using Gloop but it's not really feasible
@maverck: Go
welcome to sc2mapster :D Feel free to send me a PM if you need anything.
Short answer: No
Long answer: Sort of, kind of, maybe. Players of SOTIS can download a program called gloop, which tracks the scores. If you really, really, know what your doing, then this could be possible. You would have to make your own program and server and...yeah. However, a guy named Rodrigo on this site has done something very similar without 3rd party programs. Basically, he spreads the high score like a virus; everybody you play with receives the information from you, and they spread it, etc etc. Maybe ask him about it?

surely you're welcoming him to mapster and not me o.0 i've been here since map editor was released D:
also rodrigo's method seems to be very limited in regards to how many players you can save... since there doesn't seem to be an efficient method of saving player names.
Ok thanks for all the answers. I think I might understand how this spreading type might work, I'll see if it can do the job. Although my mod idea has been destroyed because of b.net online lags I think.
