I want to modify hydralisks default ranged attack:
1)it must be dodgeable;
2)in case if dodged, it must continue to fly until it'll die.
Well.. I went to effect(launch missile) and changed impact location to "target point", I also know how to do collision and timed life for projectile.
What I don't know is how to make projectile fly past impact location. For example hydras range is 5, hydra fires projectile at nearby rine who is 2 squares away, rine dodges-> projectile must fly 3 more squares.
Also, when targeting point projectile eventually comes down to ground. How can I force it to stay in air like if its attacking a unit?
you could try a permanent effect with an offset to adjust the target location of the effect.maybe use the source point of the offset the unit location. and the offset distance of 5.
checked it a bit, and I can't get it working. there's a default offset option in the launch bit of the hydralisk attack. but I can't see the missile flying when I use it.
perhaps someone else knows what to do.
Hydralisk's default ranged attack weapon is called Hydralisk - Needle Spines. Viewing it shows it uses the unit Weapon - Needle Spines, so select this unit and change it's mover. Double click Motion Phases +, change it's driver from Guidance to Ballistic,
By default it's driver is Guidance, meaning the missile corrects itself in mid flight. Ballistic fixes that.
If you change it's Maximum Speed from 40 to a lesser value, e.g. 20, you may be able to dodge the projectile a bit easier for testing.
i tried the same with vulture attack, i changed the motion driver for missile default to ballistic, but now the shots just hang in the air forever even though i didnt mess with the weapon speed. no units that use missile default can fire any more. any help would be appreciated
edit: seems to be a problem with the missile default mover, i changed it to needle spine mover and it works, but only for ballistic
what i really want is parabola, but then again the missiles just hang in the air, is there a value i have to change for them to move?
