So I've got a particular Unit, an item I want my Hero to pick up. I've followed the tutorials, I think, but something annoying is happening.
The item's got a duplicated Pylon model; I placed it on the map for the Neutral player, and a short distance away, stuck my hero for Player 1. The item is clearly visible, and looks like a Pylon, on the Editor screen. However, when I go to testing, the item isn't there.
I can eliminate these possibilities:
1. It was destroyed / moved away somehow. Because the hero starts within sight range of the object, none of that could have happened.
2. It's cloaked. I gave the player an Observer to test that possibility, but nothing showed up.
3. I screwed up with the models. It still appears on the editor screen, though; usually I find that if there's a mistake with the models, the editor itself will also reflect that.
So, what's left to create this irritating problem? Please help me figure it out.
Okay, let me add this. Someone gave me one or two ideas, but I still haven't found the problem.
1st, I've checked the unit, and 'Initially Hidden' isn't checked, so it shouldn't be gone for any reason.
2nd, using a trigger, I confirmed that the unit is still on the map once testing starts; it's just not there, but not cloaked.
Have you tried making another player create it to see if its just neutral? Also is "initially created" checked..i'm sure if you already looked into hidden you checked this but trying to help.
Edit: Maybe when the game loads the model is crashing out but the item is technically still in-game. That is the only thing I can think of.
Just so you know, Sceptile, I read your posts. I know how frustrated you are, but I don't see any problem with how you created your item. I wish I could help you. Keep at it.
I had problems with this also. You have to go into the actor and DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING., especially the model field. Make sure the model is pylon, not pylon copy. Actors get messed up easily when you copy/rename ANYTHING related to them.

Yah, Initially Created is checked too. I'll try checking the former.
If it's the latter, why would the model crash?
Assistance still desired.
I still don't have a fix but when making my map somehow a item went under my map instead of on top of it.
