If your map lags like hell on battle.net after the patch, you're experiencing the I did.
I couldn't understand why, because it worked great before, so I started deleting chunks of triggers, deleted the game variants, reseted all data fields, removed all regions, points and doodads, heck I even flattened the terrain...
Basically my map was completely stripped with 1 marine in it, and it still lagged.
And then I finally found it:
----------
Map Loading Screen:
You can choose between Melee/Custom, but if you want to use custom (like most of us do),
'Wait for key' must be checked. If it's unchecked, the map desyncs with battle.net somehow and causes extreme lag.
----------
Hope this helps, it certainly did for me and several others.
Now I'm finally able to upload Rocket Arena Deluxe! Hope to see you ingame :)
Although this may reduce the likelihood of drops and lag, the problem is not specific to custom maps. There is a thread on the sc2 beta bug report forum where a blue has requested the player id and time of games where they were dropped, which include custom and normal games.
Sorry for resurrecting a dead thread but does anyone know if this is still necessary? I don't use "Wait for key" and I was noticing quite a bit of lag at times playing with random people on my map. I have no trouble when testing it with people I know, though so it's possible that someone's PC can't handle the load and it's slowing everyone down.

Thanks so much for doing the work to figure out what caused this. I'll try out your fix and see if it helps! I'll post back!
Edit: It fixed it! Thanks oh so very much!!

I'd also like to know if this is still necessary. So... bump :P
@SquarelyCircle: Go
I'm gonna bump this again. Anybody know if this is still necessary?
Bump. dammit my map drops people,
I don't think this is relevant anymore. The current theory over repeated drops is excessive bank usage, but that isn't consistent either.
hmm than it might be because excessive bank usage.
what is considered excessive? (the times its saved or the amount is stored?)
Perhaps how many bank values are called on map intialisation. Though again, it's just an observation, I've never experienced it myself.
I load around 70 integers on map launch and have never experienced it. It's probably more noticebale with more complex values like saving whole units.
And it happens when its loaded?
Btw I keep getting the bug that banks resets without reason from time to time.
