I need to create a ripple effect, where the terrain looks distorted in a radiating circle. This effect is associated with many animation models, like explosions.
Does anyone know if it's possible to create the ripple effect without the explosion animation?
When I looked for a similar visual effect, it seemed that the ripple was part of specific models (.m3 file), rather than its own model. However that does not mean it does not exist, I may have simply not found it.
The Tauren Marine's attack's impact model has a ripple effects like that. However it also has an explosion at the centre. I doubt they are separate, however if you want this ripple to actually follow an explosion that would probably work great..
I was afraid that there wouldn't be any model that is just the ripple. The Tauren Marine attack is a great suggestion, and since this is an explosion effect, I'll just have to live with it.
find a model with a ripple effect, set its tint to pure black and see if it gets rid of the explosion. Some explosion and similar models lose their textures when tinted, which in this case would leave a ripple
I'm working on a tutorial for something pretty similar to what you're asking. If you don't already have it figured out, you may be able to draw some inspiration from there once I get it posted.

Did you try using the terrain deformation actor?
