Hey, I'm Gecky, 946. I'm in America, Canada and I would really like to help test some maps. I don't enjoy a special kind of maps so everything is welcome. I'm not very in specializing in a special area of a map, like a single tech tree or a single aspect so I'm more of a general tester.I'm on most of the weekends and I try to be on during the week from 4 to 9 pm.
Chirus ID#875 here. Feel free to contact me to test a game any day of the week if I'm on. I try to provide very specific comments about the games I am playtesting.
I think a rating system is an OK idea, however it would rise the postcount on this thread by a huge deal, also it would be alot more work. I'm thinking I could do something easy like coloring peoples nick with green if they have been vouched (as a tester) by someone - whom wrote in this thread.
About the blacklist, it would be very hard to keep track of that and trolls could just throw in a bad word for anyone.
What do you think about the green coloring? Atleast it would give people a hum about who actually helped with testing sometime.
I like the green coloring idea. And I'm not saying blacklist anyone for just one post... but something (that I / we haven't yet come up with) may work. XD
I've stopped testing for anyone who isn't on my friend's list since I come on here and add everyone every week or so. So, it kinda gives pref. to those who have been on the list already and prevents me from helping those who won't even put their name on the list! XD Just my personal boycott of those who don't play well with others. L2Share ppl! lol
Also, I looked through the code markups for the forum and couldn't find anything (but that doesn't mean it isn't possible) to allow you to create collapsible regions w/ in a post. Maybe a mod could help out w/ that, but it would clean up that first page a lot! And, since I don't need the EU or SEA regions, I (and others) could collapse them. :D
Another idea to both keep this thread clean and neat would be to have a mod come through and delete all the posts (dated before) an 'ALL CLEAR' post that would let them know that you've updated everything up to that point. This would also prevent trolls and members from using this thread (and any future 'monitoring' abilities involved) to boost their post count. This may also help to keep the posts to a 'standardized format' which should make your job a bit easier. It /may/ also encourage people to actually friend everyone already on the list as well. lol
Also, sry for the long delay in my response. I've been sick for the last week. :(
Just some thoughts though... I've got lots of 'em rattling around up there! ;)
Another thought btw... Why not make a special 'section' (like map review, off topic, triggers, etc) for map testers? In addition to having everyone on each others' friend lists, they could make a post that they're looking for testers @ a specific time... :D Or some calendar or event feature... again, just a thought. :P
Comment: I did a few maps back in WC3 so I know quite a bit about triggers..
For the next 3 month I will be available 99% of time(when I'm not eating or watching TV).
I am on Starcraft 2 a lot but just in case here is my steam account by email [email protected] which I am on ALWAYS.
Comment: I'm currently making my own map but if I'm on I'd enjoy to test other peoples maps and see if I can help. I did some QA for Spider-Man 3 for the ps2 and the Wii so I should be able to help out rather well.

Give an example what you mean please, I don't understand if you want this specific section in this thread or in a forum section.
I get test requests from people not on the tester list, which is somewhat unfair because they use the list and do not give back.
To thread author - make it clear that people should sign up for the list before asking others on the list to test.

Collapsing: Sure, its an idea, but something up to mods to fix. In my opinion it's pretty lazymansfeature, not really needed at all.
All Clear: Surely something that will show how often the thread is being updated and also how active the thread is (could have a negative impact if the thread is only 1 page long, people may think the thread isn't being used) but this is also a Mod thing, I don't have ability to delete posts.
Then it should be. Without it, you directly incentivize not signing up.
I'm not planning on telling people that someone is no longer available, I'm only adding and removing people from the list.
That further de-incentivizes signing up. A (better) solution is:
Write the names of the characters who should be removed from the list, right below the active list.
That way people who check the list periodically can quickly find out who needs to be removed from their local list, instead of removed people having to individually communicate this to anyone who messages/invites them.

Ofcourse there are better solutions to everything, but all nessecary information is in the first post and you are saying people won't add themselves to the list if they don't want to test others maps - and thats just how it is, this is called Map Testers List because of what it is, if people don't want to test, they don't add themselves.
There are loads of better ways to do an idea like this, like a Facebook Group or anything that notices when things happens within a group, like - someone leaves, someone joins etc. That would be the ultimate way to let people know if someone leaves the List.
