I wanted to make a mineral resource that better matched space maps much like the space station vespene model. I figured I could duplicate a pylon and give it blue mineral behaviors, and add industructable flag on it. But for some reason it wont copy over the actor/model. Help please?
I'd suggest that you create a new unit and actor, and then copy/paste the fields you need onto your new unit and actor. And then link them together at last.

I have never been a fan of duplicating.
I'd suggest that you create a new unit and actor, and then copy/paste the fields you need onto your new unit and actor. And then link them together at last.
Changing Model -> Actors
Make sure that you edit the actor event that switches the model on ultra settings, too.
