When I started including Left 2 Die units in my mod I noticed this Zergling model with jump animations, so I took it and gave it the ability to jump cliffs, as well as the Hunterling ability to leap around. I named it Glideling and it is morphed from Zerglings. Now the HoTS Raptor is just the same thing, because obviously they had thought about this unit, but decided not to include it in Left 2 Die, maybe because it would overlap with the Hunterling or something else.
And then I read that they will ban maps that port HoTS assets to WoL. Should I care about it and maybe remove my unit? I Also use some HoTS icons took from screenshots (you can find them in my icon packs), can it be considered as porting assets even if they're not the original files?
As a geneticist I simply say "parallel evolution baby". If you thought of it before they published it then you should be allowed to keep it unless it mimics their system in every way.

If the original icons/files themselves aren't available, then it makes it impossible to port them, and so they cannot be construed as such.
As for the rest, I don't believe you have anything to be afraid of SoulFilcher. If the content is made freely available in a dependency for use in the WoL editor, then it isn't ported from HoTS, nor actually HoTS content. I believe this is specifically about curtailing efforts to redistribute assets (models, textures, etc) from the finished HoTS product for others to use in WoL without paying for it.
The coast looks pretty clear from here.
TL;DR Anything made available for use in WoL is WoL content by default; because if you can use it, so can every other WoL player.

The answer for you question lies in the question itself.
Are you currently using HOTS dependencies.....

Good, I wont worry about it. Actually I renamed my unit to Raptor, so people will know what it is. :-)
@Alevice: Go Yes, the Hunterling is a small darker Brutalisk with wings. But if you check the mod's assets you can find a Zergling model with jump animations, and if I remember it right its called ZerglingHunterling.

Also by assets, I think they mean models.
