I am new and am trying to start my project. The approval came back telling me to upload a copy of my map. I do not want to upload the editor file because of some threads I have seen concerning map stealing, but I am unable to figure out how to upload a locked copy to this site. I have found the Bnet folder that I believe stores downloaded maps but they are written in a way that I am unable to distinguish between them and determine which is mine. I found a program on this site that is suppose to help decode the files in this folder but it is for windows and I am editing on a mac. Can someone explain to me where I obtain a locked copy of my map that I can upload to this site?
Your project need to have at least something to be approved. If you cant upload the map yet. Mark the project as beta. upload image (screenshot) or embedded a video showcase.
If you've found the directory where bnet save downloaded map, just copy all of them, edit the extension to match with sc2map (instead of sc2ma), put them all in a folder and open the folder with galaxy editor. Map description/minimap will be parsed for you to distinguish.
I appreciate someone finally responding but what you said doesn't solve my problem.
First, the folder I found after exhaustively searching my hard drive for anything related to starcraft or Battlenet is "Users/Shared/Blizzard/Battle.net/cache" (keep in mind I'm on a mac) but doesn't seem to have any files of extension ".sc2map" or ".sc2ma". All the folder contains are 257 folders with 2 digit names and crap inside and 1 folder named download that contains downloaded files related to the blizzard in game news. I recently found a nearby folder that seems more promising "Users/Shared/Blizzard/Starcraft_II/Maps/cache" as some of the folder names I recognize from the campaign. The vast majority of these folders have crap names and I think these are the downloaded maps. The problem is that every one of these folders contains the same file "hardTile.bin". Extracting doesn't seem to do anything productive. Is there a way to convert these files?
Second, I understand that my project need to be approved but, having already uploaded a first version of my map to bnet, can't the approver just play it through bnet?
Third, your suggestion to mark my project as beta to get past having to upload a map to this site doesn't help because my project has been marked as beta the whole time.
