Im using the hero raynor commando and tychus commando and they have the annoying flashlight which creates fps drops for me. How do I turn them off for those units?
You have to disable the behavior, either in the data editor if you never want to use it, or make a trigger... on Map Initialization disable behavior Raynor - Flashlight for Unit.
I don't know what Tychus' flashlight behavior is called... they may both use the same one. Just look in the data editor under behaviors, find Tychus and see if there's anything for "flashlight"

i do know that the behaviour is different to the light on raynors commando model. The raynor - flashlight behaviour actually creates a non-moving parabola shaped light which extends infront of the unit, while raynors commando light differes in shape and size as he moves and stands in idle
Though I believe you can use other models from the campaign and attach a flashlight to them (malu05 did it for his AC130, BRS is not using it, since we'll just use the lights on the Marine armor - adds a lot to the atmosphere)
There should be a Tychus without a flashlight from the Odin mission, if I remember correctly. Though I've been up all night doing a cutscene and my head starts to feel a little dizzy.
I tried all of the Tychus models and they still displayed the flashlight. I'm wondering if maybe it's not specifically part of the model? Also it's not displayed as part of the model in the previewer. (Well it does have lighting but there must be someway to disable it)

but so far as i know, if the flashlight moves along with the model (changes its shape etc) then it is a part of the model. If the flashlight remains stationary infront of the unit no matter what, then it can be remove
Hmm yeah okay, hopefully we get some more control over it in the future, I mean there has to be something telling it to attach the separate flashlight.
For now I have just worked it into my game, so I can live with it :)

i dnno if anyone else watches the vids on the frontpage, but this SCmapper guy previewed a video of his Collapsable dialogue menu thingy which showed jim raynor commando WITHOUT THE LIGHT
ask him about it.
Worst case scenario: he edited the model, in which case u can kindly ask for it
you want to know what else is messed up about so many new models? .. team colors.. good luck putting your tychus and black jim raynor in when he is confusing the hell out of everybody to what team he belongs too...
all the civilians/specter barebackdudes/infested melee terran, jim/tychus etc are unuseable if a balanced map is truely your aim...
no blizzard isnt retarded.... those models were made SPECIFICALLY for THEIR campaign use. they made those models according to their needs and they MAY or MAY NOT have added the functionality to turn of the lights. as simple as that.
Jesus, some models have the flashlight attached to them and you can't do anything about it.
Otherwise you can add or remove the flashlight using the behavior with the same name..

I'm tyring to find this out as well. Tychus doesn't seem to have this behaviour anywhere, doesn't seem to be created in the actor either.

It's part of the model. You cannot remove it without editing the model.

does tychus chaingun model have it too? I know that marine raynor doesnt have it

Jim Raynor isn't actually the problem, my Jim Raynor doesn't have a light either, but my Tychus/Egon/Swann do.
Did he show any of those without lights by any chance?

Thats cool I want that edited model. Flashlights are very annoying because some maps are day and hes got a flashlight? That's retarded.
Blizzard is retarded. I hope they add some patches to fix up editor and to add more models and possibilities.
