ok so i have tried searching help from google from these forums from everywhere but nowhere can i get a answer for my problem.
i just recently got starcraft 2 and after a while i wanted to try the map editor i start it up and try to start doing stuff everything works but i notice 1 odd thing i can zoom in using the mouse wheel. i roll it either direction it zooms out and it wont zoom close up. I have tried everything modifying key binds downloading software everything and im at my wits end what can i do :(
i got a microsoft mouse(no idea what though theres no thingy saying anywhere what mouse it is the only thing that reads on it is bluetooth and that doesnt help at all. i tried to install intelpoint or what ever it was when i heard it might help but without knowing my mouse version/mark its pointless.
im really begging for help i want to start having fun with this program but i seriously cant when i cant use the mouse wheel(which i have become so familiar with over the years)
The zoom function in the editor only works in specific "selection" modes. For an example, when placing units or doodads you have to hit space, then click the terrain before the mouse wheel can be used for zooming. Selecting a unit or doodad for placement again disables the zooming.
I think that you missed the point of our problem. We are not selecting units, or doodads when this problem occures. We are only able to zoom out from our view. I scroll down to zoom out, and scroll up to zoom in, but for us, zooming up scrolls out as well. If I scroll up really hard, sometimes I will get eratic actions of zooming in. I tested this on my friends copy, with his hardware, and I have no issue controlling the viewport. The mouse sends the input properly in other applications, just not our editor.
This works, thanks. What you do is hold shift and right click while moving the mouse. That does zoom. Ctrl and right click does the rotations. I wish I didn't have to do this to navigate my map, but it seems that this is the best way. Thank you!

I think it is a sensitivity issue. I have used my brothers computer to play around with the editor and it has the same problem. Also, while playing games where you scroll to select weapons, its horrendous. TF2 counter strike source or any of the games similar, scrolls through weapons so fast you dont know where it will stop. See if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity of your wheel on your mouse.

and this is wrong. you can zoom in/out while doing anything. you just have to be "focused" on the map itself.if you select a unit to place, all you do is move the screen around for a split second with right click and you can zoom, move, rotate the screen, anything still while having that unit ready to be placed. same applies for editing terrain. just right click on the map itself, and when you scroll, it wont change the size of the tool, it will zoom in and out.

Its not a sensitivity issue as my mouse works at all other times perfect its just for some reason it wont zoom in with the mouse wheel.
Im sure the ways to zoom in work that have been mentioned but the fact that still remains that the wheel is the best way to zoom in and out and its just
stupid that some people have to do this cause there is no info on how to fix it.
i think ill have to switch to my other mouse and test if it works right with that but the problem with that mouse is that the left click is broken so sometimes 1 click counts as 2... so it places 2 units or what ever im doing at once. Hell i had it once go back 2 internet windows with 1 click :P

I am also suffering from this issue, with a microsoft mouse as well. I cant move on with learning the editor untill this problem is resolved.

I hope that helps clerify the problem.

If your problem is related to the data editor I have the same problem with the mouse wheel, what you need to do is this.
hope this helps I may have what those keys do backwards
