Whenever I try to add custom dependencies on my map (Dependencies... -> Add Other...), the editor crashes and gives me the spinning beachball of death. All I can do is to restart the editor, but there is no way I can add custom dependencies (like the Renee's Warcraft mod) now :(
Has anyone had this same problem? And maybe even found a work-around? As far as I can tell this only started after LotV.
Yes, this is a known problem, and it is a sack of shit. As fas as I know, there's no workaround on the Mac. Thanks, Blizzard.
HOWEVER, if you have any virtualization software, you can work around the problem by downloading a Windows virtual machine from https://dev.windows.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/mac/ , installing Starcraft 2, and using the Windows editor to do your basic setup. It'll be pretty slow, but you can do your setup there and then work in the Mac editor (although you can't use component files to do so, fair warning).
Baffling all odds, i'm still galaxying on mac, after the lotv change i binned everything i had
and managed to get the core dependencies on this NEW map by being mr anal.. ergo you make the map. Save it upload it as such (with void dependency by default).
Keep all blizz open (bnet app all updarted :D / synched with galaxy severs with the "manage publish" open) so that adding the blizz dependencies can be added one by one (quicker if you are lucky).
Save each time he manages to add one !
Personally i wanted all wol/hots/void/war3 assets so it took quite awhile.. but i think that is the best deal available right now.
Any other asset has to be imported locally! (with extra you save / open a small dummy map then re open your map each time you import stuff, before using / linking it).
As to adding any community mods .. sorry .. i tried adding one of my own and abandoned / quit trying after a week of trying / rip^ping my hair ("ououou managed to upload the mod.. it is on their server" "wow can't add it to my map" sort of deal).
Blizzard has not fixed mac users bug more than on a case by case ..
i seemed to be lucky to get my map online "working" ..
everyone here and there will call me crazy typing this ..
(what do i care: "truth remains truth even when it is ignored / mocked") ..
use the "repair on demand" console.. insist persist .. never decist!
glhf
(ask more if applicable and ignore people who 's solution is "get an emulator, get a pc computer" etc .. like you didn't think of that on your own)
Ugh, really? I wanted to try entering the modding scene again, by making several maps using a core, personal library (a TPS) that way i wouldn't need to rewrite all the triggers and base data time and time again... Aaaand first thing i run up is this fucking problem.
I guess copy-paste-no-jutsu would have to do, right?
Honestly, this problem isn't nearly as brutal as the inability to edit component files. My post upthread does detail a solution to the custom dependency problem, though not a great one. Once you have the dependency set on a map, you can work on it to your heart's content. Hell—email it to a friend and have them set it for you.

Hi, custom dependencies are dead.
