Everything seems to be working and has been but suddenly opening and trying to change the DataModel - Art - Model field causes the editor to crash, does anyone know how to fix this or what is causing it?
Thanks.
Edit: It seems to be an issue with the editor itself as it happens with any project but only with the Art - Model field. Opening that field instantly causes a crash.
By crash you mean the editor closes with a report to Blizzard dialog? Do note that opening the model field often takes 10-20 seconds during which time the editor is unresponsive. This is due to the model previewer and having to fetch, load and display the model.
I would recommend trying the following in order...
Repair StarCraft II. Use BattleNet (Blizzard) application to do so.
Update your graphic drivers. Do so with a clean install. If you use an OEM card try using the OEM drivers as the generic ones sometimes have issues with OEM cards.
Reset game settings to default. To do so delete the EditorVariables.txt and Variables.txt files in your Documents/StarCraft II. Only options will be reset, all progress is retained.
Fully reinstall both StarCraft II and BattleNet application. After uninstalling make sure to delete all cache files. Backup the StarCraft II folder in my documents to avoid data loss although it should not be altered by this process.
I think the art model field has a model preview. This means that extra graphic context needs to be created. It is possible that due to driver or for other reasons this fails and hence it crashes.
This points towards a graphic driver bug. Restarting the computer reloads the graphic driver. Shutting the computer down uses hybrid sleep since Windows 8 so does not reload the graphic driver.
Yeah I never really restarted my computer because I felt like shutting down was better and more or less the same thing but I guess restarting is ideal after updates.

One needs to hold shift when pressing the start menu shutdown button to force a proper shutdown instead of a hybrid sleep shutdown. Be aware that this will extend OS loading time by 2-3 times when starting up as the drivers needed to load an initialize.

Yeah, the crash dialog appears. Mine never use to have that large of a delay, it appeared almost instantly, not sure why it causes a crash now.
Everythings up to date as far as I know.
I've only deleted backups, I'll try clearing the configs.
If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to try reinstalling but it would be a pain if that doesn't fix it.
I think it might have something to do with the editor thinking there isn't enough memory for it to run the previewer or something idk.
Solved
I deleted the entire Starcraft folder within the Documents folder which basically reset configs then restarted and its back to normal.
Apparently it has to be a restart not a shutdown.
Weird frustrating bug but solved so I'm happy :D
