So, i'm very new to the data editor, I successfully made a beam weapon with this tutorial, basicly, I copied it step for step, the problem with it is, I want the firebat attack animation that: 1. is a continuous fire and 2. does not have a death animation. I tried swapping death with stand and birth but I am a complete noob and it didn't work. So how do I get my weapon to be continuous without making it do ridiculous amounts of damage? also, how do I get the firebat beam to not error out?
To my knowledge the firebat weapon isn't really a beam... try attacking something with a firebat and quickly turn him away and he will spray some fire in the direction he turns. I think it's more of a create persistent thing. That being said, the firebat's weapon is one of the most complicated normal attacks in the game in the editor. If you want just a flame jet sort of attack I recommend that you just modify the axis measurements of the weapon's model. If it's doing too much damage you can always just lower the total output through the weapon itself...
Actually it is a Art - Launch Assets - Model of the Action type actor of the attack. To get what you want you need to alter the events in the Art - Launch Model actor which is a Model type actor. The firebat already uses a custom one to change the scale of the flame model when the one campaign upgrade is researched. Just alter the events to make it play the desired animation. You will also need to make the weapon use an additional channeled Create Persistent effect that applies the offset using one every so often while the flames only play the death animation when it stops (channeling that is).
Ok I got it to work by duplicating and adjusting, but, the animation turns on a little to late and it still doesn't have that constant fire effect I was looking for. any tips on how to fix this?

It is nothing, the hellion is more complex let alone the colossus and broodlord or even the infamous zetalul's phase mine.

Alter the effect that creates it? Alter the animation stuff so it is not BSD with the play once flag enabled?
