I can't seem to find a really basic tutorial but it seems from reading semi-related articles that they are sets of data, separate from an individual map, that I can apply to many maps. For example, I can make a mod that gives marines 50 damage, giving each map where this mod is implemented this effect. Is this correct?
How do I go about making, saving, and activating mods? If there's a tutorial plz point me in the right place. Thanks
If you go to newbie wednesday's last episode, ZR talks a lot about that actually, link to the livelinks page should be in the front of that forum. He doesn't go so much into the what of mods, but should be a decent start on making one.
Once you have a basic one made, you have to attach it to a map to test it out. If you can't figure this out try just running it w/o a map, it gives a pretty good hint as to how to do that.
Mods can pretty much have anything in them except for terrain. The standard dependencies are mod files, so you could look at those to get an understanding of how they work.

Actually, you can't run a mod without a map.

So, my guess is correct as to what mods actually are?
