How can I make it so spore crawlers can be build like photon cannons? I know you have to do something about creep on the ground and life regeneration off creep and such. But can somebody help me out a little more?
I think he's wanting it so that a drone can build a crawler without loosing the drone. So, the drop doesn't go from drone > egg > crawler. The drone "builds" the crawler and the drone is still there. So, it builds and walks away instead of the drone "becoming" the crawler.

You should do this by mimicing the probe warp-in-structure ability, altering it to have a spore crawler in a unit tab and giving it to the drone. Then change the warp-model accordingy to make it look visually zergy.
The footprint of the spore crawler determines that it needs to be on creep. Under the Build ability are flags called Worker Kill on Complete and Worker Maintained.

Just copy/paste the probe build ability flags into the drone build ability flags.
