Use the hero Void Ray beam for an orange-red color. To tint, you can read Prozaicmuze's beam tutorials. OneTwoSC also discusses tinting in a part of his Frostbolt tutorial on youtube.
To change the weapons simply change the effect of the weapon from Battlecruiser to the Voidray's. To set the colour create an event in the beams actor with on Actor Creation and Set Tint Colour (actual colour may need some adjustment to get what you want)

How would I change the battlecruisers default weapon to the protoss Void Ray beam? And how would I tint that to a red color?
not sure about the TINT , id liek to know as well :P
BUT!! to chaneg the weapon is fairely EASY!! , go to your duplicated VOID RAY , click on it .
on the right side find : Combat - Weapon + and chaneg the filed fromt he BC weapon to the voidray Weapon ,
DONE!
