Hi guys, I'm trying to find a way to use an ability with a specified hotkey (G) to be used without the command card and the rest of the UI visible. It's pretty much the Toss Grenade from Jim Raynor Commando unit. Is it possible to make it work?
Any help appreciated!
I think it is not possible to use it with the UI hidden, but you could use some triggers to tell the game the whenever a players uses thekey "G", the ability is order to target. Maybe catalog triggers.
Worked perfectly!! Thanks a ton, I'm truly amazed by all the help I've received on this website, such a great community! Cheers!
Edit: There is one slight problem however, I want my unit to be unselectable since it's a TPS map, but then how do I get that unit to be selected for the command card?
Can't really be done as far I know, someone can say otherwise, since if you do so. You won't be able to use targetting anymore. Yet there always a solution. Get your hero always selected, and remove the selection radius. So your unit will always be selected , but it won't have that green circle. Does that work for you?
This doesn't work with my map sadly, since whenever you move the unit the "move" markers are shown on the ground. No other possible way to make it work then?
There's a field for selection circle offset somewhere on the model data. Set the offset to some large values like 500. You'll never see it.
For removing the move markers, I believe that is a player option somewhere. You can use the trigger action "override player option" to force those to be hidden. I believe it might be called current order indicator or something of the like.

First of all read that post : http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/triggers/60970-get-a-grenade-marker-while-3rd-person/#p1
It will make you able to make the part 1, which it be able to use a ability with the command card hidden. Now..
Use "Show/Hide UI Frame" do to some clean up. Your trigger should look like that :
The only thing left should be :
Everything else should now be hidden. We will use the overlay method to hide it.
Save and your done. Here a demo. The SCV spell use T as hotkey, to cast mule btw.
If you want more information about the overlay method, use Helral tutorial amazing good one.

It will work as long as it works with respawn on that unit, how can you remove the circle though?
In the model the field named Art : Selection Radius, set it to 0
For selecting the unit upon respawn, simply use Select unit in trigger.

Now I am stuck xD
I supose you could change the actor art model of the move command to nothing, but I didn't find any actor for that ability.
Or create a new move ability without visual effect could work also.
Sorry I don't have any tutorial on that one, I never actually try.
EDIT : Do you use WASD movement?

Yes it's the engine martinolsson created: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/triggers/7277-third-person-shooter-tps-engine-download-if-you-need/

I'll look into it when I get home, the offset solution is clever, all that remains is the move marker then.
@DeepCover187: Go
I described a solution for the move marker in the previous post.

Amazing! It actually works! Gonna makse sure everything's good now. Thanks a ton for the help :)
Edit: The only thing left is that I need to unbind the Right Mouse Button from moving since the movement is controlled via W A S D. How can I do that?
Bump, this is the final step for making everything work :P
@DeepCover187: Go
Use the trigger action UI - Enable/Disable Command Type with an option of Smart Click.

Now everything seems to work! Thanks a ton :)
