So I'm adding the Lurker to the tech tree, and most of the process is fine. What I want to do is this:
Hydralisk Den able to evolve to Lurker Den when you have Hive (fine)
Hydralisk able to morph into Lurker when you have Lurker Den (fine)
Add Seismic Spines (+3 range) upgrade for Lurker (you see this upgrade in the Hydralisk Den, but can't research it until you have a Lurker Den (just like Hatchery upgrades))
I didn't have problems at making most of the above, except with the upgrade. Sometimes, it doesn't show costs, and in the related data, it points to the Hydralisk instead of the Lurker, and I don't understand why.
This is the process I followed:
Button for Seismic Spines: copied Grooved Spines and changed description and icons
Upgrades: copied Grooved Spines and changed weapon and range
Requisites: copied Learn Grooved Spines (named Learn Muscular Augments by Blizz, guess they didn't rename it or they didn't update ES translation) and changed Grooved Spines for Seismic Spines, and added "unit count: Lurker Den".
Modified Hydralisk Den abilities and gave it Seismic Spines button and upgrade.
With this, it should work, and it does (the Lurker, and only the Lurker, gets its range upgraded) but I suspect I may be missing something, since the upgrade still points to the Hydralisk, and sometimes the cost disappears from the button description...
There is an array at the upgrade (Affected Unit array its called I think) where you can set the units it improves, since you copied a upgrade from the Hydralisk it still has the Hydralisk in that field.
Thanks a lot, Hobrow, but I can't seem to find that array inside the upgrade... Could you be more concrete? I don't find anything named like that, and I don't find any field with Hydralisk inside it either :S. No idea why you need to assign them separately, when it works without touching that array -_-.
By the way, found "why" costs disappear sometimes. I did some tests, and it seems the cost disappears when you have a Hydralisk Den. While you have a Lurker Den or a morphing Hydralisk Den, the costs appear fine. Any idea about this bug?
Not trying to be an ass or anything, but there is such a thing as a Search. You obviously didn't search. So search "Lurker". Second post, check my map... Profit!
Lurkers are fully upgradeable(normally, researching Melee/Ranged Ground Attacks and Ground Carapace does NOT upgrade Lurker because it is not setup to be upgraded, and I did just that)
Lurker Range upgrade fully functional.
Perfect Morph/Cancel, for Hydralisk Den <-> Lurker Den / Hydralisk <-> Lurker.
No button errors/disappearing costs.
Added Hydralisk Move Speed upgrade(just like in Brood Wars).
Not sure if the hydra speed upgrade is on par/balanced, nor am I sure about the Lurker dmg upgrades. But it can all be changed to suit your needs.
The point of learning is doing it myself, and I wouldn't feel ok if I had to copy something that simple :P. Also, I don't like copying stuff without knowing exactly what each modified is for, and I wouldn't know that without having done it from scratch before by myself :).
Anyway, will check it by myself, but do you get that "costs disappear" problem?
