Alright, I'll try to make this brief. I have recently come across a couple of files meant to parody SC2 unit portraits. I think they are amazing, but the only problem is that they are 2D. Tell me, is there any way to add such a portrait to a unit in the game?
if you look under the units model for example Portrait - Colossus there is a line called image that's the static 2d image for that portrait just change that to what you want if you can find the 3d model for those images change the model but that's how to get the 2d image different
My unit is a copy of the banshee, and currently uses that portrait. Won't changing the portrait itself change the portrait for the banshee as well? I want to keep the normal banshee portrait for the banshee as well. Is there any way I could just create a new model for the portrait. I'm trying to do that right now.
ok what you do is duplicate the portrait model and then go to you custom unit actor its base actor and change the portrait model link to your duplicated one

Thank you, now I understand. This is my first time actually getting into a project with the editor, so please forgive me if I end up not having a clue what some things do. For what I'm going to do next, is there any way to add sounds?
thats fine i was the same way about 2 months ago actually i learnt from making A Rogue's Story.
i also like helping people
what do you mean add sounds like to the portrait if so no or i doubt it
just to the editor just import .ogg or .wav files some other might work i know those 2 work i use ogg because its most compressed you can create them with audacity and you just go into the sounds tab and create a new one linking to the one you imported
It appears that with Blizzard's limiting browser, I can't access where I saved the image. I also can't find the area to copy the image at in order to access it. How do I do this? Before I forget, does the image have to be a certain format?
Yeah, you never think of something so simple, though...
Great, now this browser can only see Map and Mod files. There's no way for me to change it to see all files. I feel like the answer is sitting right under my nose...

Thank you, this explains a lot, but is there anything special I must do if it is a custom unit?

.dds or .targa you can make the dds with "the compressionator" thats what use just google it its free the plugin for photoshop is buggy
I already made it into a .dds with Paint.net, but can't seem to find the folder to save it in to allow the blizzard browser to access it.
can you up a screenshot
im prety sure you can put it in any folder then just browse there with editor
Here is what I am seeing.
all imported assets are at the bottom if you imported it if you havent imported it well you need to import it to the map
Importing, amazing how something so simple could bypass me just like that. Thanks.
i thought you knew that oh well
