Hi, I want my hero to have the ability to cast a Protoss-like shield. I thought the defensive matrix's model look very good for it, but it's green.
So I tried doing the "set tint color to white", then "set tint color to sky blue", but it stays a lot greenish. It I choose pure blue or red, it becomes blue or red but very transparent...
I managed to change the color the way I liked in the "open-scene-viewer-thingy-menu-that's-under-the-model-display'' but then I can't save it...
I think you can't probably because of the shields original color. You could raise the HDR but it won't look too good. At least thats what I've noticed. Now, Dr. Super Evil, one of the site moderators, talked to me about texture swapping and that he has a tutorial for that. Look for him, maybe he could help. Good Luck.
I'd bet that the model color is made by particle emitters and things like that. This means you have to edit the models textures, and so, create a new one (editing the default) in order to swap the PE color and the textures.
Search for the textures the model uses and edit them. Then, what I do, is edit the .m3 in .xml format using the m3 addon for Blnder .py (M3ToXML and XMLToM3). There you find fo the Assets you want to change and the search for the Particle Emitters and so on (what I do is use the Search funcion Ctrl+H and search for "Assets" and "color") . The color values are in RGB so you may want to use pages like colorhexa.com for prewieving the colors and the changed ones. Here is something I replied bit long ago with the same topic, a bit more explained.
Many shield and beam model textures have a full rainbow spectrum of textures that come with the game. Unless the model has specific light emitter in which case adjusting the HDR or team colour can help adjusting the texture is a possible option.

Well then I need to edit the texture, because HDR just enhances the base green tone.
Can you tell me how to properly edit a model ? It's something I've never done. All I'd want to do is make it sky blue (well the protoss's shields's skyblue) :)
Changing the tint of the team colour has no effect but the hdr multiplier does. This can be used to reduce glaring coloured light sources so the retextured emissives are more visable.

What's HDR ? How can I try that out please ? :)
HDR effects how bright emissive textures and light sources are. The Set Tint Color and Set Team Color event actions have a field for multiplying it.

Read the tutorial in my signature. If your model has a light source you need to reduce the team colour hdr to 0 and then up the tint colour one.

Well all I know is it's green for any team color to use it so...
Changing the tint of the team colour has no effect but the hdr multiplier does. This can be used to reduce glaring coloured light sources so the retextured emissives are more visable.
