Time for a new WDE... although its more Fortnightly... lol
Weekly Data Exercise #16
I haven't looked into attachments myself, so as to what is exactly possible I do not know, feel free to correct me here at any stage,
But basically your goal is to create some unique looking units by combining units, doodads, items(or anything else you can find) together through attachments. Think back to things like the ubers, where a whole lot of units were compiled into one big unit that shot lazors of deathz! Basically I want you to play around with attachments and rotations to make a completely new unit. You can go to what extremes you like. These attachments do not need to do anything special unless you really want them to do :P
Challenges
I'm not sure how to compile challenges for this, but will next weekend, if we are lacking ideas :)
can we add attachment points in 3d a progam and something i suggest is have a broad wde where everyone will just go to town making stuff even though i think this is pretty broad also cause its mostly like borg and kueken are the 2 people i know that are pretty good at the editor doing theese some of the first 5 were the best do some more like those just a suggestion
Everyone does not have a 3D program available to them, that is work done outside the data editor, so no I can't ask people to do that for an exercise. I am not sure how much more broader do you want me to get.
Borg and Kueken have been a great support for the WDE, and their work inspires me to keep running it, I love seeing what they create, but I also try to make the exercises as friendly to everyone as I can, they take it a step further a they see fit.
The first 5 WDE's I do not feel have been any different except there were a lot more people active.
If you have any suggestions, though feel free to make them in the ideas thread :)
It's nothing made especially for this WDE, but it fits the theme: My entry for the boss-contest (since the video at that time didn't show much, I'll just give you some screenshots ^ ^)
I feel the same way at the moment. So many attachments and tweaking of Persistents and Timers and... ugh :P
I feel you should have waited 2 weeks or 3 before posting an attachment WDE. Right now my mind is blank for attaching stuff, sort of... my next "project" will be attachments + Site Movers. See if I can create some interesting stuff :)
Maybe this weekend I can come up with something relatively quick just to spice things up.
Problem with movers is they do not orientate themselves relative to the unit so they become a hassle if you have a moving unit, work well with tentacles though.
I haven't played in the Editor for a long time, interests moved elsewhere for a while, but You do Not need a separate program to add your own Attachment points.
You can create locations to attach to on the unit anywhere, I believe they are SiteOperations(Site). You just tell them what Site to normally attach to, then move it to where you want it to be, It will move with the site its attached to.

As per usual, any questions don't hesitate to ask
Have an Idea for the WDE, post it here!

Your title says 'Attatch' when it should be Attach. ;P

>.< does not... :P
no nevjamc that was a question for this wde can we use a 3d program to add attachment points? not a 3d program as a wde...
@aczchef: Go
Maybe take Nevjmac's misunderstanding as a hint to use more periods, commas, exclamations, question marks, semi-colons, apostrophes, etc.
It's nothing made especially for this WDE, but it fits the theme: My entry for the boss-contest (since the video at that time didn't show much, I'll just give you some screenshots ^ ^)

sorry yes, i know i dont use periods or commas enough

Leviachokerthan? Fits nicely ;)
€ not a choker, an infestor :/
You could submit it for the creature contest as well, still prizes to win.
€€ I get flooded with actor errors when engaging it
I submitted it already at the boss-contest, so I don't think it would be allowed^^
/€: Looking into the actor-error-problem
/€²: It seems a patch destroyed something, but everything seems to work, just ignore the messages xD
The patch just shows the error messages now, the errors were present before ;)
little interest in this weeks exercise?
Its just that I did hours and hours of attaching for the creature contest; I am not that motivated to repeat it.

fair enough :P

I was able to fix it & updated the map-file in the previous post
