Going to run out of ideas, I can't beleive its friday allready. Seemed like the challanges were a bit of a hit last week so I will keep doing them throughout the week as I get time, Please give them a try, I will do them to see if we can get some different results of the same idea. Get a bit of variety out there :)
Also guys I have seen a lot of people posting saying the have attemped these exercises but I havn't seen them ask for help, if you get stuck please ask for help in this thread, We would like to see what you are trying to put together!
Weekly Data Exercise #4
This weeks Data Exercise is going to be some form of Aerial Support, So we are creating abilities this week, You can make it so that a ground unit calls in an airstrike or napalm or a air unit requests additional air support. Basically we are after more cool looking abilities. I will be posting specific challanges throughout the week with a bit more advanced requests to see who can put them together.
Criteria:
All thats required this week is that you use an air unit in your ability, whether its summoned in the ability or the air unit uses the ability does not matter.
Challenge
Challenge 1
Recreate a napalm drop, any air unit can do it, basically recreating an air unit flying over a unit and alighitng the ground beneath it causing the units underneath to flee from the fire and if they have been hit burning to their death.
Challenge 2
CAS - Close aerial support. A ground unit calls for a nearby air unit to assist (dunno if possible have a go, if not just summon one) the air unit will follow the ground unit and firing at any enemies that pose a threat to the ground unit.
Challenge 3
Immediate Evacuation! - A ground unit requests for an immediate evacuation, the air unit should fly in and LAND nearby the requesting unit and units should load in (a set time) and then the air unit should take off and head away from the posing threat.
Challenge 4
Paratroopers - I am interested in seeing how people come up with an idea to finish this one. Basically a ground int calls in for reinforcements and a air unit will fly over and drop units off, these units should fall to the ground slowly as to not cause damage to themselves.
Challenge 5
Kamikaze - Everyone should know what this word means, crazy pilots that fly into things and blow them up. And lets make this one a zerg ability!
I may post another couple of challenges in a couple of days. will see how these four go!
EPIC EPIC (≠OP this time) Carpet Bombing with vid is here. I can assure you this is very cool looking as proposed by nevjmac. (YouTube says the still can take up to 6 hrs to update after I change it. If you are lucky enough to see the unchanged still, you may have know that. If you aren't, YES, I CHANGE THE STILL INTENTIONALLY TO HIDE THAT FROM YOU!!)
To be cool looking, the data is so complicated to be posted here. (It involves 1 unit edit, 2 unit creation, 2 abilities, 6 effects, 5 actors, a button and 2 models) Just download the map and ask me or the community if you need help understanding that.
To prevent misunderstanding, the second cast in the vid is not a failure. Just a proof that heavy anti-air can stop the ability so it is not OP. Actually, if you look closely, the marines have depleted the shield.

XDDD I guess you could expect to see 20 AA turrets quite often. Anyway Good job
Yet again, another amazing looking ability,I like how they come from different directions but not colide :) nice touch. looks like you put a fair bit of work into it :P
As Zenx1 said yes its not over powered :P much rofl. I don't think I have ever seen 16 AA turrets lined up waiting for an air unit, but all in al nice job! another really polished looking ability. I love the plasma looking explosions!
It's vitals are same as a normal carrier so it need not be 16 turrents. I guess a dozen of Vikings or a few Thors can do the job. And... 4 challenges? And a few more?
Wow! These abilities are awesome. My hero Jim Raynor's got an Air Strike ability that works like Kueken's and a Request Reinforcements ability that works like BorgDragon's. This WDE will really help me!

Why not turn your results into an asset for others to use!
Just a basic air strike for now.
3 banshees are spawned and bombard the target area.
€ re-uploaded the map, deleted some unnecessary junk from previous attempts
€ another re-upload, made the ability a LOT easier and less messy. Also the ghost gets proper credit for the kills now.
Aww...... I was thinking something VERY similar. Seems that air strike is the 1st thing that come to mind for every1

I made them not to for testing purposes. Also at the current state, the banshees are invulnerable. Could be changed if someone wants it, though.

it was basically setting an area of ground alight, and it would spread. It has been used in real world wars.
