For the glow, i dont know whether its possible but maybe you can just attach light omnis?
Also, for the damage, create a behavior, name it what you want, open the "modifications +" field, go to combat, there should be boxes allowing you to modify damage. just add 1 to ranged, melee and splash. Find the value "maximum stack count" or something along those lines and set it to how much stacks you want to possibly have. Use a trigger to detect when a unit dies and add that behavior to the killing unit (make sure to use conditions so that the trigger doesnt run on missile deaths, etc.)
Blahr.
I had the same idea and it's getting on my nerves. I tried the behavior- figured I did everything right... but nope- no change in damage.
So I decided, 'Fine, I'll try this instead' and I set up an upgrade that only affected the unit I wanted it to affect.
Despite almost certainly knowing that it should work, it still doesn't.
a good glow model you can use is the one used on the mineral fields ( the blue shiny ones, or the yellow shine from the gold minerals) To change the color of it, put in the events = Actor creation = Set tint color and specify whatever color u want
@Jinxxx
Yea, I found those just fine and am using those now. I'm also using Fire Medium.
As for the tint, is there any way to make it infinite? As in, like adding '1' to a variable? From what I can tell I can only set it, not modify it? How could I do this?
@SoulCarveRR
I thought of that as well, but I can't seem to make the actor change it's tint. I have 'Send Actor Message - Tint' and then I specify the color blue, but nothing changes.
Just use an actor message that changes the hue from 1 to 2 from 2 to 3 from 3 to 4 and that gives off a glow. You can also give the glow a certain color.
Actor event, change tint color. Tint color has the color board, so you change the color of your unit and hue is in bottom right so you change that value as well. Btw I was wrong about different colors. I forgot that while you change change the colors you must also change the units color as you do it. Any way, you can attempt to still change the color of the glow by giving it a color that is washed down with white (as in put the scale of the color close to white, but not pure white). Hue = more glow & Tint Color = color of unit & glow. I probably confused you more, so if you have questions just ask. Pretty simple after you figure it out though.
Is it just because I'm running the game on Low settings that the glow is really just changing the color of the unit and not displaying change to the environment?
Does this mean I'm screwed? I was hoping for something that would be easily noticeable on all graphics levels, so that when you go into a fight with one of these you can know 'this one is more dangerous than this one'
So yea, as the title says I'm trying to create a unit that, when it kills enemy units, would glow brighter, on three different levels.
As in...
No kills- Regular One kill - Dull glow Two kill - Brighter Glow Three kill - Brightest Glow
One of the bigger problems is that I can't find a usable glow effect. Help?
Also, if you know how to increase damage per kill as well, that'd be neat.
For a glowing effect, just open the previewer and go through some effects until you find something matching.
As for any bonus for a kill, you need to use triggers, currently there seems to be no way to detect kills in the data editor.
Well crap. Is there any way to get a (Killing Unit)'s current damage then, so I could just do Modify and +1?
I've been looking, but I can't seem to find it.

Damnit, I just realized this would affect all the units. Changing back to Behavior so I can smash my face against the desk for a different reason.
... k... well apparently I did it wrong the first time. Please hit me.
Anyway... back to the glow- is there any way to change the tint of an attached model in-game?

If the glow effect has its own actor you could tint it a specific color from an event.

Bump.

Could you point out where exactly that is?
I can't find the option for 'Hue'. I found the 'glow', but it's more just tinting the unit a certain color for a period then changing back.

Probably. I hear lighting is for high + (I think) Can you see any of the omni glow doodads?
Unfortunately not.

could change the units size rather then give them a glow?
err Considering they'd change sizes for every kill, they'd wind up being HUUUGE for the higher kill ones.
