I fully agree with what you are saying. People want more WDE's but don't want to work on any of them... I'm certain I've done every WDE except for 1 because of time constraints. I've even done the ones I really wasn't interested in because it's still fun to learn something new.

and just to keep it going i have successfully made a healing totem/ward (http://www.wowwiki.com/Healing_Stream_Totem)
i altered it a bit though so it heals 20 each second.
if you want to look at the map i implemented it into my hero defense i was making.
and in the data editor in abilities tab is the ability that the the hero sentry(guardian sentry) uses to summon the unit with a life spam of 10seconds.
if you want to see all the features in data editor just search for "Healing Ward" and anything with that name is what is used.
just for testing reasons the cd of casting it, or giving it a mana cost to cast. and i placed one on map next to a archon(frost mage) so you can see that its in effect and placed a guardian sentry there so you can use him to summon more healing wards.
i included a model effect so you can see your being healed and a buff on unit to see that its in range of the ward.
I haven't played as a death knight in WoW but from what I read they use a rune system. That would be kind of cool creating some of their spells and the rune system.
I've got an idea for the next WDE. I'm not even sure if this can be done with data or if you'd need triggers. If it IS possible, then I think people could get alot of use out of the result:
Unusual training effects/abilities. Basically anything that breaks free of the traditional building queue seen in nearly every rts game. Think units being brought up from below ground, walking down ramps, training near the building before walking out, etc; I haven't seen any challenges yet where people have tried altering this aspect of the game. A neat possibility would be to have units spawn 'inside' one of those armoured colonist transports and run down the open ramp at the back before the user gains control. I'm sure people could think of many others.

Overall I'm happy with it, could use a bit of tweaking but very minor stuff. Couldn't find an appropriate "stunned" model so I didn't add one to the Demon Charge stun.
How did you get the human form to maintain the "hand raised in the air" animation when performing Hellfire? I've been looking for a way to do that for a while with Marines.
When you start the animation for the units actor, create a timer at the same time with a length of however long it takes for the unit to get its hand in the air. Then on timer expire pause the animation.
I'm working on an ability that could be considered a recreation of death grip, but it wasn't inspired by WoW, or by this data challenge. I had the idea a long time ago but got stuck... seeing this gave me the idea to try it again and its going well. Anyway, I'll make a video of it once I get some sound bugs worked out. For some reason my continuous sound just keeps going even after I tell it (in events+) "Effect.PullPersistent.Stop - Destroy". I'm messing around with various hosting options and such to try to get it to stop properly.
I'm sorry I didn't get time to clean this up or make a video.
Notes: This doesn't work with multiple units using the combo abilities, This is because of the clear/change target effects. It will clear combo points of everyone. I couldn't find a validator similar to Buff From Caster, or similar.
So take it as is and learn something. :) I did have fun making this.
Just got done recording my first 30 second video of my ability (I only have the free version of fraps). I have another 30 second clip filmed which depicts the other function of this ability, but it took 2.5 hours just to upload the 1st 30 seconds, so part 2 won't be available until maybe tomorrow, or maybe some time later than that. Does anyone know of a good piece of software for compressing videos?

also shows a combo system I made... the button next to electro grapple with the orbital strike icon is normally a targeted missile ability, but while the pulling beam is active, the same button becomes an instant ability that primes a combo.

Well I hadn't much time to work on this, but I finally figured out how to get this beam actor to work.
I used the Force Effects Tutorial to create the ground pound effect and also used that tutorial as a basis for Death Grip.
