Hello fellow mappers! I have been unable to find were on earth in the data editor were or what the initial event is before the worker gets to constructing the building. I have attempted swapping out the build model but that seemed to not do the trick. This is a model that is not normally built, so for construction phase I have the Opacity set to .5 in the events when the Unit construction is started, and upon unit birth, the opacity is set back to normal.
Here is the problem shown in the pictures below, upon the initial placement of the building before the builder gets to building part of the building, it looks exactly like the finished product. This could become quite confusing for the players, so what area of the editor am I skimming over in the editor? I would like to set the opacity to .5 as well, but I cannot find the model event or what ever it uses in the pre build, pre arrive state of the model.
Picture 1: all 5 walls have not been constructed yet, but the initial pre placement pre arrive model makes it look like they already have been.
Picture 2: The top wall has been constructed, the middle wall is currently under construction and the bottom wall has yet to start being construction.
the placement model is located in Unit that is built itself Actor, there is the model of Unit, Underconstruction so other, so you need to use other model for underconstruction to show. You may not get the point but still will leave the message here as initial replys will come
Wound you mind clarifying? I get the part that it is under unit, but then phrases like "that unit is built itself actor" confused me hah. I do not quite understand what you are saying here, but I will start to scan through the data fields once again, or until it dawns on me what your post means hah.
Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.
So I think what I should do then is make another model with occlusion, and them put that model into the placement model. :D
Edit: dam still having trouble getting the opacity to work, is there any event in the events that tracks the building placement model? Even better, is there a field that can permanently turn the opacity on? and if there is, were is it? I cannot find anything, i've been through all the fields I could find. :(
Still unable to do jack to the model itself, cannot find anything to interact with the model after 3 hours of messing around with the data editor (RRRAAAGGEEEE)
So it appears that I am able to quite easily and readily change the model it uses when it is building as said above, but when it comes to modifying that model I cannot find a way to modify it.
I have also been experimenting attempting to use the flag in the actors, using the wireframe version of the actor, but for some odd reason, it still has the same effect as above, even when the actor of the model is in wireframe mode.
The placement model is an actor of the Model type with its own events for example the Bunker Placeholder Model.
You see the actor has several events altering visibility and opacity. You must create your own placeholder actor and then set that in the Art: Placeholder Actor Model field of the Unit actor.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by altering the model type actor used? (thanks for your patience haha)
