Using mods (Blizzard ones or even your own) is the easiest way to go past the 10.5Mb limit. If you're importing assets, putting them into a mod would be a good idea.
Keep in mind that if you publish a protected map, your trigger file (for gui triggers) size can be ignored.
You can check out the size of stuff in your map in the overview module (except the imported files, you can check them in the import module).
Do they? my map is currently 5 mb and its not even halfway done and i need to find any way i can to make it smaller.

Yes and thanks to patch 1.4 adding triggers and moving data into a mod is much easier.
