I have created a point targeted projectile that can run into units, and I want to make it so that the impact of the projectile knocks back units in an area.
I have tried my best, but I just cannot get the force effect working. I've read the tutorials and searched the threads and despite following some instructions to the letter, it does not work. I'm hoping that one of you has the spare time to look at my file and return it with a working force effect! I have everything set up, ready to test it out, and it would really be a huge help. :D
Sorry. Downloaded and loaded it up, but I gotta log onto bnet and download a mod file? How big is that thing? Been downloading for over 5 minutes? I can download 1gig+ files in 15 minutes. BNet is either slow, or something else?
Eitherway, I tried twice but I'm not sitting here forever to download a mod file to tell you that you have your Target+ fields set incorrectly once I see the effects. Or that you need to apply a buff which slightly raises the unit off the ground before you can apply a force effect of any magnitude to make it look good.
Again, sorry. I'd help with an idea, flesh it out, whatever, but like I said, it's just a case of me looking at your effects and going "That's what's wrong".
Sorry, I don't know what went wrong with the mod file. There isn't much in it.
I deleted all of my attempted force effect data, and left the projectile data, before I asked for help. To me, it just seems like it would be difficult to attempt to discuss as complicated a subject as force effects through posts, so I figured it would be faster for everyone if somebody just put in the effects for me so that i could take a look.
I followed the instructions in the tutorials, and those did not work, so I figured taking instructions via post would not be much better. Also, the tutorials usually contain a lot of info on doing extraneous things that I do not want for my effect (like bouncing the unit) that make it hard to follow.
If you want to try to describe how to do it to me, here's how it needs to hook up:
I have an ability that launches a projectile at a target point. The projectile itself has a behavior with a periodic effect searching the area for units, and upon finding one, it deals the damage effect and commits suicide. That is the point at which I want to apply the knock-back in a radius of two.
The mechanics for force effects were changed in patch 1.4, so those tutorials you mentioned are probably outdated.
For force effects, the usual issue was, that the Target Location was determined differently after the patch; try to set it to Target Point and additionaly specify an effect, from which to take the target.
Oh, and it helps, if the behavior is actually applied by the caster within the effect chain. If you don't do that, try to raise the Death Time of your projectile, so the force effect can still reference the projectile unit after impact.
Sounds like you need specify the two locations between with unit, also the force is often very little distance covered so you need a Create Persistent effect to cover any serious distance.

Thanks, Wrath
Maybe someone will do that, but this is not a "Do this for me" forum.
We would like to know, what you tried, which instructions you follow and what actually happens, so we can possibly help you fix it yourself.
