i have a map where i use some of the wow models, like the lichking or deathwing.
i had to scale them accordingly to their purposes but then some effects applied to them are fucked up and scaled way to big and are also not sticking to them.
any ideas how to fix that? also why that effect wont stick to the unit/model?
theres an auto-scale factor in either the actor or the model which scales the attached model based on the scale of the host model
i feel like changing this would be a bad idea however as it would affect it's size on other models
more than likely you will want to consider which scale you want to change. the host actor's scale or the host model's scale. instead of the effect.
as for the effect not attaching to the model. it's like you do not have the neccesary attachment points
most effects use either center or origin reference points. if your model lacks these im not sure what you can do. (best just to add them in 3dsmax)
hey. thanks for the hints, i fixed both issues now while changing the attachment point to target instead of center, and using the model scale instead of the actor scale.
however i encountered a little problem again while using that custom model.. whenever that unit moves up, it gets an huge selection spot over it, when it moves down there is a huge selection box under it.
hard to explain, look at my attached picture. if the unit moves into the arrow´s direction, the marked area is where i still can select the unit.
i never really created custom units so i have no idea where or what i have to edit to fix this issue :S
@PatchOne:
it likely has a gigantic bounding sphere
this is a simply sphere geometry thats invisible which sc2 uses to detect if your mouse is over the unit or not
i do not think you can fix it without editing in 3dsmax

ive been using the SAME model ( the BC shiled thing ) and for some reason evan when i tweak the art- scale , it stays the same size ..
i know their is a option Auto Scale . in the actor , but i dunno if it really helps , dint seem to help me :(
hope some one can figuer this out. ( PS it was working prior to 1.3 )
i havent goten arround to fixing it yet , but maybe making a new custom Actor with the same Model might fix the bug.
bump
still looking for reasons why that effect scales that big and why it wont be attached to the model..
Also deselect scale as an inherited property from the host.
