With your unit you need your drone as the Unit actor and have a Model actor of a photon turret that has the opacity set to 0 as an attachment. On the turret you then attach your hydralisk as a Model actor.
The following SOps are your friends, Attachment, Local Offset and Explicit Rotation.

in the case of what i want to acheive, a hydralisk stood on a drone, the drone is the mover, while the hydra is the turret.
