I keep looking at tutorials but frankly not having much luck.
I want to use a pastel looking set of terrain textures from the Warcraft 3 era however everything Ive tried leads to heavy reflecting on higher graphic setting on SC2.
My question does anyone have a template for bland or non-shiney textures that I could use or explain how to remove the shine from the textures?
I heard there is a "texture select by id" actor message, and you can change textures. So, if you have a penis_diffuse.dds, penis_normal.dds and penis_specular.dds, you can apply them to a model. And if youe specular texture is black, there won't be any specular reflections.
Terrain textures use the diffuse map's alpha channel for specular. If your alpha channel is solid black, the texture won't have any shiny areas. Though it may still be dependent on having a proper normal map to look right.
Alternately, as Maity said, you can simply turn down the Terrain Specular in your lighting.

I've been trying with white/grey/black alpha channels but no luck sadly
I shall try the lightning as I think I have custom lighting which may be the problem.
Thanks guys btw :)

Just and update it worked perfectly the issue was that the lightning was on some crazy high multiplier

you need to use black specular maps
Could you explain on how to do that or give an example as I'm not too sure what you mean.

@Zolden: Go
That's racist ;)
Apart from that, I think this guy is asking about terrain textures. No speculars or texture select by ID there as far as I know.
Have you tried messing with lighting settings? I think there's a slider or two for "terrain specularity" (Window -> Lighting)
