If we attach a billboard RTT screen to a model, and also attach a camera to the same model, and let the screen to show the picture from the camera - it will be something like a rear-view mirror.
This actually requires model editing, because the trigger, that makes RTT texture show the picture from camera, only can use unit's model camera.
So, if you, say, plan to use a hellion as the unit, you'd need hellion model edited to add camera and screen.
Possible universal solution may be if I create a model that includes only camera and screen. And this model will be used as the main unit's model. And other models like car/byke/spaceship would be attached to that model.
I got it to work, but is there a way to render the RTT channel into a dialog? I'm using 3rd person view, and picture in a picture doesn't really work well if it has to be rendered to a screen attached to a model.
But for other projects, there's a lot of potential to create TV screens of in game world.

Thats quite awesome! :o
This is so cool! I'm totally going to download the map and use it in my game!

Yea you should definitely do that. Shouldn't be too hers right?
Really cool stuff here.
I am sure another breakthrough in using RTT will make this all look needlessly complex in the future.

You mean breakthrough on blizz side? Yes, would be cool. Looking forward for 2.2.

No, it's not possible to play RTT in dialog. The only way to keep the screen attached to player's camera is to have it attached to the screen model.
I've attached a model of screen and 2 cameras to the first post.
Either. There might be some clever trick not yet researched. Else blizzard will get its act together.

It's funny, your message made me think again, and I found the "clever trick". It's late to perform a complete test, but tomorrow I'll make it work.
