I would like to study and edit models from some games and other mods, it is natural when a modder see a good model, he/she wants to finish it and tries it in the game to see how it looks like. It's not some kinds of "stolen" and nothing to be shamed if you resepect the original artists' rights. At the same time it's also a good way to learn how to design your own models.
I respect the BLZ's policy and original model artists, they will in my mods only if they allow me to (perhaps/of cause it will never happen).
But I have to say that there do have some guys asked me to edit assets from nor-BLZ games and the third artists' work such as MMD models. I refused the third artists' works but teached them how to edit models from other games. I warned them but looks like some guys still want to have a try and now I can't stop them...
Perhaps some other SC2 mod teams have the same question like me, we only have two members, and both of us are busy... So we need to know almost everything, I have to deal with models, textures, videos, animations, design new characeters and veicles ——almost everything in our art assets. And my partner have to write the drama and edit the progarms in Galaxy Editor. Other SC2 modders have there own teams and do not have enough time. So we can't find new members with the same ideas and good practices. It's so hard to deal with everything, both of us know nothing about how to write a custom back ground music...
I don't know ;) Maybe just find someone who can write some music? Or find music which is free and usable in such scenarios. Or just pay someone to do it ;)
Btw, I can create music. And I can try to compose something for you if you explain what you need.
You can check here how it usually sounds. And ppl say that it feels like a game music.
That's really good work!! Everyone of them is sweet-sounding.
Our game is a Castlevania style game, so the musics which you already created fit our game very well (Just feeling, sorry I am not good at music), now the game are almost finished, and only thing we need is bgm.
Perhaps I should show you how our game looks like, but it uses chinese as basic language, I can translate the menu for you but the dialogs are too long. I will solve the problems with Nanakey very soon.
Thank you my friend, to be honest I have not expect someone will reply me for they have their own excellent projects to focus on.
So many things are being copied and look similar nowadays, that it's hard to create a story plot, model, paint or other that does not resemble something already made. Example: I was thinking how to call my project related to the importing of custom models made from Empire Earth. I was trying combinations myself based on the theme and the age that these structures represented. In the end I called the project NanoSpace. I googled to see out of pure curiosity if some name like that existed - Bam ! - it did, a corporation for bio and space research.
A lot of people can think of similar things, if one had to claim someone copied, we wouldn't have new things to watch. There are so many things in life and creations that look alike, so many things that you can't say something is 'entirely your creation' anymore.
Heck most of scifi is based on the ideas brought up at the one gathering of Lord Byron, this includes the undead/demon threat (Dracula) and the insane construct/AI (Frankenstein).
Infact I challenge you to find the origins of any scifi/fantasy concept.
Talking about copying stuff, has anyone noticed that the creatures in Geonosis arena (Star Wars Episode II) look "inspired" by Blizzard's creatures or characters?
A very interesting thing, and maybe it should be discussed—Can we use the assets such as musics, models and textures from Call of duty? Since the two companies now stick together, it may won't cause terrible legal questiones.
I won't need those assets, but I think maybe some guys want to use them to create morden combat games.

Ha! Didn't know about that ;) Thanks!
Still, my previous thought holds: It's not our, it's Blizzard's concern.

Sure! Study the models. id software is a good example how to squeeze 5 polygons into one mesh and still make it look awesome ;)

Agreed that's pretty good stuff. Do you record yourself playing or is that computer magic.
@Delphinium1987: Go
PM'd you to not produce some impolite offtopic inside this specific thread.
@JacktheArcher: Go
The latter. I don't have a year to improve my playing skills into a recordable state.

Will listen to your music tomorrow, but be warned I am spoiled after hearing the works of Jun Senoue and Nobuo Uematsu.

lol yes, the bull-like creature has Zergling horns. Hehe...
@Eimtr: Go
True. That's why I said before "do it to not bluntly resemble" :)

One was your standard space mantis
