So, I'm guessing we have no way of creating m3a's atm? I guess the only way is if we had something like the .m3 script that exported bones and animations in .m3a format.
From what I can see they're just .m3 files. Though I kinda can't get the script to work without having to export a mesh.
I've ran the M3 format template and it hasn't failed at all. They just don't have mesh information, though I have no idea how they work cause I tried giving different models a required animation .m3a via data and they keep using their old animations.
The diablo model IS animated. It has 2 stands and 1 idling. It also has a weird jump. It just doesn't have attacks and spells and walks ;o I'll keep working on figuring out .m3a but I'm a really bad animator so I have no idea if it's my lack of animating skills that makes my tests fail :P
I already tried so many times ;o
That's why I asked for the models. I'll do some more tests with smaller models and not overly complicated ones wen I have the time (wed or so)
From my tests it seems .m3a files use specific bones so that giving and infested civilian the female civilian animation file results in wrong animations.

Each model has to be uniquely rigged to its geometry. You can't just put one model's bones in other model cause they both have different geometry and will have, of course, very different results, sometimes even undesired like polygons jumping all over.
I completely forgot of this since when I started testing I was in the middle of finals but I'll continue now ;o

I'd expect blizzard to use standard rigs for, say, bipedal units, which means you should be able to use animations from the terran female and use them for the terran male and have them work. That would explain the m3a's, EXCEPT m3a's apparently include bones.
Does the terran female civilian have bones or bone-vertice information? And how does the animation data in the m3a compare to the animation data in the terran male civilian m3?

maybe it works even if the m3a file contains mesh. convert the wow diablo and I'm going to rename it and add it

so sc doesn't use the m3a file if it still contains mesh?
go go *cheer* :)
I need to work on my animating skills, I'll look into this, it might take me a few weeks, but I think I can do this. I'll start on it now. =)
How did it go?
