Hi, im importing models from wow and want to make good specular and normal maps for them. Is there such a tutorial that tells me every step to make these items and apply them to models in 3ds max? For my image editing software im using gimp but i could get photoshop free trial.
In photoshop, I use the nVidia Normal Map plugin, which is free and can be downloaded from nVidia, open the diffuse map, apply the diffuse filter on it and use the nVidia plugin, works perfectly
To make a specular map, check this tutorial of only 7 minutes, it is spectacular :) :
If you using m3 exporter, don't apply normals, it fucks them, smoothing groups will do the job. M3 exporter is good for importing m3's to move them into Art Tools, but not for exporting into editor.
My suggestion: get another copy of max 11, install Art Tools on it. They are very easy to use, completely documented (including a perfect tutorial), cover any single bit of modelling for sc2.
Then you'll be able to do anything you want instead of facing numerous bugs of m3 exporter.

Thanks.
I use MindTex, personally. There's also the more commonly known nDo.
