i made a hero carrier with no meaningful limit, 500 leash and will attack anything on map. but even with only 4 interceptors it lags i dont know why. but it making my map unplayable.
so i just looked at the carrier the sight range is only 12
edit: the only numbers that is anywhere close to it's max is periods on create persistent interceptor at 65,000, range of 500 for interceptors and leash of 500 for the ability..
im going to try with all of the above set to 100 see if it works.
I think a Carrier can attack (or rather, have its interceptors attack) outside of its sight range if the target is spotted by another unit and within the interceptor's leash, correct? So even if the carrier has minimal sight range, with a very large interceptor leash it will still be scanning every unit the player can see.
Thing is, I'm pretty sure the scanning parameters for the attack have to scan all units within the leash range. Then, the targets which are not visible are filtered out and the carrier engages the legal targets.
The interceptors are flying around attacking everything in range. If range is the entire map bounds, each interceptor is scanning the entire map for targets constantly. Thats bad. Anything you do you lower the max range the interceptors can go to should help this.

Probably because it is scanning the entire map for targets.
so what, i lower sight range?
I would definitely be lowering the sight range for a start, but other than that carriers can be a very laggy unit.
If you don't place the carrier is there any other noticeable lag?
we were fighting it out in a test version and it got lagy when a carrier was brawling but when we destroyed the carrier the lag stopped.
other than the carrier it doesn't lag until late in the game with 1000 supply worth of men are in play which to me is understandable.

seems to be working, needs more testing.
